Fangliao Railway Art Village (Fangliao f3 Art and Cultural Zone) Introduction
Fangliao F3 Arts and Culture District is located next to Fangliao Railway Station. It was originally formed by local cultural and historical workers and a group of art enthusiasts who shared a dream of developing an arts village. They established the "Fangliao Life Culture Promotion Association" and used Warehouse No. 3 of Fangliao Railway Station as an exhibition and performance center, frequently hosting various artistic events. After gaining recognition from the Taiwan Railways Administration, they gradually rented the idle spaces at the station and converted them into art workshops, laying the foundation for today's F3 Arts and Culture District. "F3" stands for Fang-Liao, the English name for Fangliao, and the abbreviation of Warehouse No. 3, benefiting from its inherent transportation advantages due to its proximity to the railway station. Upon exiting the train station, visitors can walk to the right to reach the outdoor performance plaza and the Industrial Cultural Hall. Currently, all outdoor performances and indoor exhibitions are held here. To the left of the railway station is the main area of the arts village, which includes studios for resident artists and cultural art groups. There is a platform and a large grassy area for performances and visitors to relax. Entering the arts village, one instantly senses a leisurely atmosphere, distinctly different from the hustle and bustle of the city. The surroundings feature lush trees and various intriguing installation art pieces, such as a train made of driftwood, mosaic tile artworks, and animal-shaped mailboxes, all carefully crafted by artists. Since the arts village was transformed from old Taiwan Railway dormitories, the alleys are lined with houses that serve as studios for resident artists. The appearance of each studio reveals the artist's specialty, and visitors can freely enter to explore, preparing for an artistic feast. The Fangliao F3 Arts and Culture District hosts arts events almost every weekend, such as artist talks, community group performances, static exhibitions, and art learning courses. Visitors to the F3 Arts and Culture District will inevitably fall in love with the charm of art.
