Shuibiyiao Historical Houses Introduction
Shuibilyau has been developed since the early Qing Dynasty, with families such as the Chen, Liang, and Zhao clans pioneering this area. The group of ancient houses was built by the ancestors of these families, with construction dating from the 1870s and 1880s to over a century ago. Through a tour of these ancient houses, we can not only appreciate the richness of folk crafts but also explore the historical context, natural conditions, cultural environment, social culture, construction methods, and material applications of the era. This allows descendants born and raised here to understand how their ancestors established their home amidst a landscape of wild overgrowth.
