Shuìdǐliáo Ancient Houses Group Introduction
Shuibilyou has seen development since the early Qing Dynasty, with families such as the Chen, Liang, and Zhao contributing to the cultivation of the area. The ancient buildings are constructed by the ancestors of these families and date from the 1870s and 1880s to over a hundred years ago. Through a tour of these ancient houses, we can not only appreciate the richness of folk crafts but also uncover the historical background, natural conditions, cultural environment, social culture, construction methods, and material applications of the time. This allows descendants, who were born and raised here, to understand how their ancestors established their homes amidst a sprawling landscape.
