Duyuan Garden Introduction
Located in Chishang Township, Taitung, "Du Garden," officially known as the "Du Jin-Zhi Memorial Garden," was established by philanthropist Mr. Du Jun-Yuan, who hails from Chishang and became wealthy through the electronics industry. To honor his father, Mr. Du Jin-Zhi, and mother, Ms. Wang Yuan, for their nurturing influence, Mr. Du funded the renovation of his parents' ancestral home and the original Jin-Fong Rice Factory into a spacious area covering over 2,000 ping (approximately 6,600 square meters) for community organizations to hold events. The garden serves to purify hearts, provide services to the public, promote cultural education, and enhance social harmony. It regularly hosts art and social education exhibitions and offers its spaces for legitimate and beneficial activities free of charge to various groups. The garden features a memorial hall, conference room, accommodation suites, activity center, landscaped gardens, herb garden, rockeries, lotus ponds, pavilions, ample lawns, parking lots, and areas with petrified wood dating back tens of thousands of years from Indonesia. These facilities are available for public and group applications for space and teaching research purposes, and the garden is open for free visits to the general public. Within the elegantly landscaped garden, visitors can find the words of Tzu Chi's Silent Voices etched on pavilions and stone slabs, adding a touch of wisdom to the tranquil environment. To preserve medicinal plants, the herb garden collects over 100 kinds of precious herbs, which are open for visitor exploration and public education and research, with technical guidance provided by the Taitung County Agricultural Research and Extension Station, offering various rare herbs for research purposes.
