Badai Bay Introduction
Lanyu Island, located in the Pacific Ocean, is surrounded by the sea. The beautifully designed, colorful outrigger canoes of the Tao people (Yami people) are parked on the beach of Baidai Bay, creating a picturesque scene and one of Lanyu's most iconic landscapes. Especially at sunset, the outrigger canoes lying quietly on the beach are favorites for tourists and photographers. Baidai Bay boasts the longest beach on the west side of Lanyu, stretching approximately 1,500 meters from the Fisherman's Village to Hongtou Village. The Hongtou River of Lanyu flows into the Pacific Ocean at Baidai Bay, resulting in a rich fishery yield and a diverse variety of corals, which serve as the primary economic source for the residents of Hongtou Village. Baidai Bay is also an excellent dive site for snorkeling to observe the underwater ecosystem.
