Badawan Bay Introduction
Lanyu Island, located in the Pacific Ocean, is surrounded by the sea. The beautifully designed and colorful indigenous fishing boats of the Tao people (Yami people) are parked on the beach at Bay of Eight Generations, creating a picturesque scene that is one of Lanyu's most representative landscapes. Especially during sunset, the resting wooden boats on the beach become a favorite spot for tourists and photographers. Bay of Eight Generations boasts the longest beach on Lanyu's western side, extending approximately 1,500 meters from the fishing village to Hongtou Village. The Hongtou River flows into the Pacific Ocean at Bay of Eight Generations, leading to an abundant fishery and a great variety of coral, which serve as the main economic source for the residents of Hongtou Village. Moreover, Bay of Eight Generations is an excellent snorkeling spot to observe the underwater ecosystem.
