Lanyu Weather Station Introduction
Lanyu Weather Station is located at an elevation of approximately 324 meters. It is a building constructed during the Japanese colonial period, forcibly built by the indigenous Tao people (formerly known as the Yami people) under the orders of the Taiwan Governor-General. During World War II, it was bombed by Allied forces, resulting in partial damage, and bullet marks remain on the walls of the main building and office. After renovation, the main structure has been entirely painted white. The Lanyu Weather Station is situated at a high vantage point, offering a towering landscape with a 360-degree panoramic view. To the east, it overlooks Dongqing Bay and the old village of Yeyin, while to the west, it provides a bird's-eye view of Badawan. To the south, the continuous mountains and dense forests can be seen, covering almost the entire view of Lanyu Island. This location is also an excellent spot for sunrise viewing, as its elevated position allows for the beautiful sight of the rising sun near the horizon over the sea.
