Lanyu Weather Station Introduction
The Lanyu Weather Station is located at an elevation of approximately 324 meters. It was built during the Japanese colonial period, constructed by forcibly recruited members of the Tao people (formerly known as the Yami) by the Governor-General of Taiwan. During World War II, it was bombed by Allied forces, resulting in partial damage, with bullet holes still visible on the walls of the main building and offices. After renovations, the main structure has been entirely painted white. The Lanyu Weather Station is situated at a high point, offering a towering terrain with a 360-degree panoramic view. To the east, one can overlook Dongqing Bay and the old village of Yeyin, while the western view offers a bird's eye view of Bay of Eight Generations. To the south, there are continuous mountain ranges and dense forests, providing nearly a complete view of Lanyu Island. This location is also an excellent spot for watching the sunrise, as its elevated position allows for beautiful views of the sun rising near the horizon.
