Old Lanyu Lighthouse Introduction
The Old Lanyu Lighthouse is located by the edge of Kaiyuan Port, and visitors can easily spot it shortly after disembarking. Standing on a small hill by the port, it appears to be a garden landscape from a distance. By following the recently renovated pathway and ascending the steps, visitors can reach the lighthouse in just under two minutes. Although this small hill isn’t very high, the view from the top offers a panoramic sight of Kaiyuan Port and the azure waters of Lanyu. After the new lighthouse was built, the old one had been abandoned for quite some time, with the path deteriorating and no guardrails around the lighthouse. However, as more tourists discovered the area’s beauty, it gradually became a popular photo spot, leading to the installation of new railings and a fresh coat of paint on the lighthouse. Whether arriving or departing from Lanyu, visitors will find it a perfect place to take memorable photos. From the ground, it may be hard to notice, but the waters in Kaiyuan Port are as clear as anywhere else on Lanyu, and with just a few steps to a higher vantage point, one can see clearly, even catching glimpses of the rocks at the bottom of the harbor where children often play in the water.
