Old Lanyu Lighthouse Introduction
The Old Orchid Island Lighthouse is located by the Kaiyuan Harbor, and visitors can easily spot it after disembarking by simply looking around. Perched on a small hill by the harbor, it appears to be a garden landscape from a distance. Following the recently renovated path to ascend the steps, you can reach the lighthouse in under two minutes. Despite the hill not being very tall, the view from the top allows you to overlook the entire Kaiyuan Harbor and gaze at the blue waters of Orchid Island. After the new lighthouse was built, the old one was somewhat abandoned for a period, with the path not maintained and no guardrails around it. However, as more and more visitors discovered the beauty of this spot, it gradually became a popular photo opportunity; new guardrails were installed, and the lighthouse was repainted. This makes it a great place for visitors to take a moment to record their memories, whether they are just arriving or preparing to leave Orchid Island. While it might not be obvious from ground level, the seawater in Kaiyuan Harbor is just as clear as in any part of Orchid Island. A short walk up to a higher point reveals the clarity so that one can even faintly see the rocks at the bottom of the harbor, where children often play and splash in the water.
