Longtou Rock Introduction
Lanyu's geological formations are primarily composed of amphibole-bearing andesitic lava and basaltic agglomerates, along with Pleistocene red soil layers, uplifted coral reefs, and Holocene alluvial and colluvial layers as well as coastal fringing reefs. Through the processes of ocean erosion and weathering, these natural forces have sculpted Lanyu's most fascinating rocky landscapes. The formation of Longtoudiao is a large uplifted coral reef rock that has gradually taken its current shape due to natural marine erosion and weathering. The Tao people (Yami people) call Longtoudiao ji-mazicing, which means the rock is sharply irregular and forms pitted rock walls. The waters near Longtoudiao are important and rich fishing grounds for the people of Lanyu, and local residents can often be seen fishing and angling. More travel tips for Lanyu.
