Xiangyang Woodworking Workshop Introduction
The Xiangyang Xinchuan Woodworking Workshop (Adi Dan Cultural Story Museum) is located in Duoliang Village, Taitung County, above the most beautiful train station in Taiwan, the Duoliang Station. It is converted from the abandoned school building after Duoliang Elementary School was closed. The Paiwan people traditionally refer to themselves as "Adi Dan," meaning "friends of the land." They view all living beings in nature as equals to humans, respecting every creature and wisely utilizing every natural resource. The Paiwan social hierarchy is one of the earliest forms of social enterprise in Taiwan. Similarly, the spirit of the Xiangyang Xinchuan Woodworking Workshop aims to accompany the development of local industries in the community, helping the children of the homeland find their way back home. The museum primarily showcases the traditional cultural wisdom of the Paiwan people and the social enterprise spirit of the Xiangyang Xinchuan Woodworking Workshop. It exhibits the use of wooden daily necessities and local handicrafts. The surrounding area, which includes Jinlun Hot Springs, Duoliang Station, and Dawu Mountain Ecological Education Center, has become an ideal destination for cultural tourism along the Southern Cross-Island Highway.
