Hsiang Yang Woodworking Workshop Introduction
Xiangyang Xinchuan Woodworking Workshop (Adidan Cultural Story Museum) is located in Duoliang Village, Taimali Township, Taitung County, above the most beautiful station in Taiwan - "Duoliang Station." It is transformed from an abandoned school building after the closure of Duoliang Elementary School. The Paiwan people's ancient self-reference is "Adidan," which means "friends of the land." They view all living beings in nature as equals to humans, respecting every creature and wisely utilizing every natural resource. The Paiwan social hierarchy is one of the earliest forms of social enterprise in Taiwan, mirroring the spirit of Xiangyang Xinchuan Woodworking Workshop, which aims to accompany the development of local industries and help the children of their homeland find their way back home. The museum mainly showcases the traditional cultural wisdom of the Paiwan people and the social enterprise spirit of Xiangyang Xinchuan Woodworking Workshop, displaying the usage of wooden daily necessities and local handmade crafts. The surrounding area combines Jinlun Hot Springs, Duoliang Station, and Dawushan Ecological Education Center, making it the best cultural tourism destination along the Southern Cross-Island Highway.
