Xiangyang Xingchuan Woodworking Studio Introduction

Xiangyang Heritage Carpentry Workshop (Adidan Cultural Story Museum) is located in Duoliao Village, Taitung County, above the most beautiful station in Taiwan - "Duoliao Station." It is converted from an abandoned school building after the closure of Duoliao Elementary School. The Paiwan people traditionally refer to themselves as "Adidan," meaning "friends of the land." They view all living beings in nature as equals to humans, respecting every being and wisely utilizing every natural resource. The hierarchical society of the Paiwan people is one of the earliest forms of social enterprise in Taiwan, similar to the spirit of Xiangyang Heritage Carpentry Workshop, which aims to accompany the development of local industries in the community, allowing the children of the native land to find their way home. The museum mainly showcases the traditional cultural wisdom of the Paiwan people and the social enterprise spirit of Xiangyang Heritage Carpentry Workshop, as well as the application of wooden daily necessities and a display of local handicrafts. Surrounding attractions include Jinlun Hot Springs, Duoliao Station, and the Dawu Mountain Ecological Education Center, making it the best place for cultural tourism along the Southern Cross-Island Highway.
