Mi Zhan Old Trail Introduction
Located next to Mijhan Elementary School at the 42-kilometer mark on Highway 193, there lies an ancient trail with a history of over a century, awaiting modern visitors. The Mijhan Ancient Trail served as a communication route between Shuilian and Shoufeng Township along the Eastern Coast, crossing the Coastal Mountain Range. Villagers would carry rice by shoulder poles to Mijhan Village, giving rise to the profession of “porters” and creating a unique culture associated with the Mijhan Ancient Trail. This originally seven-kilometer-long trail fell into disrepair due to the development of road transport. Later, the Mijhan Community Development Association reclaimed ancestral paths and constructed bamboo and wooden railings and drainage holes using local materials. The trail showcases a natural flavor, and the newly reconstructed Mijhan Ancient Trail, at an elevation of 415 meters and a total length of 1,700 meters, may not be long but will still leave you sweating as if you have experienced a forest bath. Upon reaching the ridge, you will see the winding Pugua River nestled in the embrace of the valley, presenting yet another breathtaking view; along the way, the cheerful chirping of various birds will distract you from any leg fatigue.
