Fan Shu Liao Introduction

Fanshuliao is located next to Bridge No. 18 on the Coastal Highway, showcasing the most unique canyon landscape on the East Coast. Here, visitors can observe the contrasting terrain formed on both sides of the highway due to different geological conditions that affect the deposition and cutting actions of the streams. To the west of the highway are gently rolling hills and valleys, where meandering rivers travel through flat river terraces scattered with farmland and farmhouses. On both sides of Fanshuliao Creek, which flows under Bridge No. 18, there are steep canyons nearly a hundred meters deep, resembling Taroko Gorge. From the viewpoint, the canyon appears deep and mysterious, with steep rock walls and lush greenery. The East Coast National Scenic Area Administration has established a rest area here, which includes parking, wooden railings, well-maintained flowers and trees, a simple-designed viewing platform, and public restrooms. Additionally, there are shops providing hot and cold drinks in front of the rest area.
