Fangshu Liao Introduction
Fanshuiliao is located next to Bridge No. 18 along the Coastal Highway, and it is the most unique canyon landscape on the East Coast. Here, you can observe the contrasting terrain formed by the accumulation and cutting of streams on both sides of the road due to different geological conditions. On the west side of the highway are gently rolling hills and river valleys, where farmland and farmhouses are scattered across the flat river terraces; while on both sides of Fanshuiliao River, which flows through Bridge No. 18, are steep canyons that reach nearly one hundred meters deep, resembling Taroko Gorge. From the observation deck, you can overlook the deep valley, steep rock walls, and lush greenery. The Eastern District Office has set up a rest area here, complete with a parking lot, wooden railings, neatly arranged floral plants, a simple-shaped observation deck, and public restrooms. In front of the rest area, there are shops offering hot and cold drinks.
