Feng Shou Liao Introduction

Fanshuliao is located next to Bridge No. 18 along the Coastal Highway and is the most unique canyon landscape on the East Coast. Here, you can observe the contrasting topographical features on both sides of the highway, resulting from the accumulation and erosion by streams due to different geological conditions. On the west side of the highway, there are gently rolling hills and valleys, with farmland and farmhouses scattered across the flat river terraces. In contrast, the banks of the Fanshuliao Creek, which runs under Bridge No. 18, feature steep canyons that reach depths of nearly a hundred meters, resembling the Taroko Gorge. From the observation deck, you can overlook the deep valley with its steep rock walls and lush greenery. The East Coast National Scenic Area Administration has established a rest area here, which includes parking facilities, wooden railings, well-maintained flowers and trees, a simple-designed observation deck, and public restrooms. There is also a shop providing hot and cold beverages in front of the rest area.
