Qixing Fish Museum Introduction
The Dried Fish Museum, located next to Qixingtan, is established in a former dried fish factory that has been renovated after its closure. In the past, the waters of Qixingtan were abundant with skipjack tuna, making this the first local museum in Taiwan focused on the dried fish production industry. Walking into the well-preserved historical space, visitors are greeted by wafts of smoke and the aroma of smoked fish, while the charred roasting room evokes memories of the past flavors. The museum features areas for fish processing, displays on the history of dried fish, and a DIY experience zone, aiming to recreate the original appearance of the dried fish factory, the ecology of the Qixingtan waters, and the dried fish production process. The original smoking room has been redesigned, and the museum defines its themes based on cultural exploration, giving an overview of the dried fish production, fixed fishing methods, and marine ecology. Additionally, there are various dried fish specialties and culinary delicacies available, making it a great place to have first-hand experiences with dried fish.
