Qixing Dried Fish Museum Introduction
The Dried Fish Museum, located next to Qixingtan, is a transformed old factory that stopped operations. In the past, the waters of Qixingtan were abundant in bonito, making this the first local museum in Taiwan that focuses on the production of dried fish. As you enter the museum, you are greeted by swirling smoke and the aroma of smoked fish in a space that has been preserved with its ancient charm. The dimly lit roasting room brings memories of the old flavors back to visitors little by little. Inside the museum, there are areas for fish processing, exhibits on the history of dried fish, and a DIY experience zone that recreates the original appearance of a dried fish factory, showcases the ecology of the Qixingtan waters, and explains the dried fish production process. The original smoking room has been redesigned, focusing on cultural exploration, and offers an overview of three categories: dried fish production, fixed-location fishing, and marine ecology. Additionally, there are many dried fish specialties and food offerings available, making it a great place to connect with dried fish.
