Qixing Dried Fish Museum Introduction
The Dried Fish Museum, located next to Qixing Tan, is a facility transformed from an old dried fish factory that ceased operations. In the past, the Qixing Tan marine area was renowned for its abundant skipjack tuna, making this museum the first local museum in Taiwan dedicated to the production of dried fish. Upon entering the preserved space filled with ancient charm, visitors are greeted by wafts of smoke and the aroma of smoked fish. The weathered, charred roasting room evokes memories of the rich flavors of the past. The museum includes a fish processing area, a display area showcasing the history of dried fish, and a DIY experience zone, recreating the original appearance of the dried fish factory, the ecology of the Qixing Tan area, and the dried fish production process. The original smoking room has been redesigned, with a focus on cultural exploration, providing general exhibits and explanations of the dried fish production process, fixed-gear fishing, and marine ecology. Additionally, there are many dried fish specialties and culinary delights available, making it an excellent place for first-time encounters with dried fish.
