Meilunshan Park Introduction

Meilun Mountain stands in the plains of Hualien City and was once known as one of the Eight Scenic Views of Hualien - the Eight Layers of Greenery; it has an elevation of 108 meters and covers an area of over 50 hectares. To the east lies the vast and blue Pacific Ocean, while the Meilun River meanders past the foot of the mountain, making it an ideal place for Hualien residents to exercise at dawn and dusk. The Chiayi Shrine to the south offers a panoramic view of Hualien City. The Meilun Mountain Ecological Exhibition Hall and the Science and Technology Museum showcase various insects such as fireflies, rhinoceros beetles, and dragonflies, serving as an outdoor teaching venue for elementary schools in Hualien. The park features a children's playground, and behind it is the entrance to hiking trails that can be traversed on foot or by jogging, with a length of about 800 meters. The paths are lined with acacia trees, making for a refreshing stroll. Meilun Mountain is lively during the day, while a night visit reveals an atmosphere full of mystery and surprises. The open spaces and drainage around the ecological exhibition hall are a paradise for various frog species; in summer, small yellow-edged fireflies, and in autumn and winter, large mountain-window fireflies adorn the nights of Meilun Mountain with brilliant beauty. Visitors can explore various trails to immerse themselves in the tranquil beauty of Meilun Mountain and enjoy nature’s feast.
