Meilun Mountain Park Introduction
Meilun Mountain stands in the plains of Hualien City, once known as one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Hualien - the Eight Layers of Green Hills. It has an elevation of 108 meters and covers an area of over fifty hectares. To the east, it faces the vast blue Pacific Ocean, while the Meilun River meanders past its foot from the west, making it a great place for Hualien County residents to exercise and enjoy fitness activities at dawn and dusk. The Cenicero Shrine to the south offers a panoramic view of Hualien City; the Meilun Mountain Ecology Exhibition Hall and the Science and Technology Museum showcase various insects such as fireflies, stag beetles, and dragonflies, serving as an outdoor educational field for elementary schools in Hualien. The park features a children's playground, and behind it is the entrance to hiking trails, which can be used for jogging or walking; the trail is about 800 meters long. The paths are lined with acacia trees, making for a refreshing stroll. Meilun Mountain is lively during the day, while exploring it at night reveals a world full of mystery and surprises. The open space and ditches around the Ecology Exhibition Hall are a paradise for various frogs; in summer, small yellow-edged fireflies and in autumn and winter, large window fireflies illuminate the nights of Meilun Mountain with their stunning beauty. Visitors can follow various trails to deeply appreciate the tranquil beauty of Meilun Mountain and enjoy the feast of nature.
