Meilun Mountain Park Introduction
Meilun Mountain stands in the plains of Hualien City and was once one of the Eight Scenic Views of Hualien known as "Eight Layers of Green Hills." With an elevation of 108 meters and an area of over 50 hectares, it faces the vast blue Pacific Ocean to the east, while the Meilun River winds its way beneath the mountain from the west, making it an excellent place for local residents to exercise and keep fit. To the south, the Eternal Sacrifice Memorial Shrine offers a bird's-eye view of Hualien City. The Meilun Mountain Ecological Exhibition Hall and the National Museum of Natural Science exhibit various insects, including fireflies, horned beetles, and dragonflies, serving as an outdoor teaching venue for elementary schools in Hualien. The park features a children's playground, and behind it lies the entrance to a hiking trail. Visitors can jog or walk along the 800-meter-long path, which is lined with Acacia trees, providing a refreshing experience. During the day, Meilun Mountain is lively and vibrant, while exploring it at night unveils an air of mystery and surprise. The open spaces and ditches around the Ecological Exhibition Hall serve as a paradise for various frogs; during summer, small yellow-stripe fireflies, and in autumn and winter, large mountain window fireflies, illuminate Meilun Mountain's nights beautifully. Visitors can follow the various trails to immerse themselves in the tranquil beauty of Meilun Mountain and enjoy the feast of nature.
