Meilun Mountain Park Introduction
Meilun Mountain stands in the flat lands of Hualien City, once part of the "Eight Scenic Spots of Hualien," known as "Ba Luo Die Cui." With an elevation of 108 meters and covering an area of over 50 hectares, it faces the vast blue Pacific Ocean to the east. The Meilun River meanders past the foot of the mountain from the west, making it a great place for local residents to exercise in the morning and evening. To the south is the Chung Li Shrine, which offers a commanding view of Hualien City. The Meilun Mountain Ecological Exhibition Hall and the Science Museum display various insects such as fireflies, stag beetles, and dragonflies, serving as an outdoor teaching site for elementary schools in Hualien. The park features a children's playground, and behind it lies the entrance to a hiking trail that can be enjoyed by jogging or walking, stretching about 800 meters. Along both sides of the path are abundant acacia trees, providing a refreshing experience. By day, Meilun Mountain is lively and vibrant, while a night visit reveals an air of mystery and surprise. The open space and ditches around the ecological exhibition hall serve as a paradise for various frog species; in summer, the small yellow-edged fireflies, and in autumn and winter, the large mountain window fireflies illuminate the nights of Meilun Mountain beautifully. Visitors can follow the various trails to immerse themselves in the tranquility of Meilun Mountain and enjoy the feast of nature.
