Meilun Mountain Park Introduction

Meilun Mountain stands in the plains of Hualien City and was once one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Hualien, known as "Eight Layers of Greenery." It has an elevation of 108 meters and an area of over fifty hectares. To the east, it faces the vast blue Pacific Ocean, while the Meilun River meanders past the foot of the mountain from the west, making it a popular spot for fitness activities among Hualien residents. The Loyal Guandi Shrine to the south offers a panoramic view of Hualien City; the Meilun Mountain Ecological Exhibition Hall and the National Museum of Natural Science display the ecology of fireflies, stag beetles, dragonflies, and various insects, serving as an outdoor teaching venue for local elementary schools. The park features a children's playground, and behind the playground, there is an entrance to a hiking trail. Visitors can jog or walk along the approximately 800-meter trail, which is lined with Acacia trees, creating a pleasant atmosphere for a leisurely stroll. By day, Meilun Mountain is lively and cheerful, while at night, it is filled with mystery and surprises. The open space and ditches around the ecological exhibition hall are a paradise for various frog species; during summer, small yellow-edged fireflies and in autumn and winter, large mountain-window fireflies illuminate the nights at Meilun Mountain, making it breathtakingly beautiful. Visitors can explore various trails and immerse themselves in the tranquil beauty of Meilun Mountain, enjoying the feast of nature.
