Meilun Mountain Park Introduction
Meilun Mountain stands in the plains of Hualien City, once known as one of Hualien's Eight Scenic Spots – Eight Spiral Greens. With an elevation of 108 meters and an area of over 50 hectares, it faces the vast blue Pacific Ocean to the east, while the Meilun River winds beneath its foot from the west, making it a popular place for residents of Hualien County to exercise at dawn and dusk. The Loyal Soldiers' Shrine to the south offers a vantage point over Hualien City. The Meilun Mountain Ecological Display Center and the National Museum of Natural Science showcase various insects such as fireflies, rhinoceros beetles, and dragonflies, serving as an outdoor teaching space for elementary schools in Hualien. The park features a children's playground, and behind it is the entrance to hiking trails, where visitors can either jog or walk along an approximately 800-meter path. The trail is lined with Acacia trees, providing a refreshing experience during a stroll. Meilun Mountain is lively during the day, but exploring it at night reveals a world full of mystery and surprises. The open space and ditches surrounding the ecological display center are a paradise for various frogs; in summer, small yellow-bordered fireflies and in autumn and winter, large mountain window fireflies illuminate the night of Meilun Mountain beautifully. Visitors can follow various paths to immerse themselves in the tranquil beauty of Meilun Mountain and enjoy the feast of nature.
