Meilun Mountain Park Introduction

Meilun Mountain stands tall in the plains of Hualien City, once known as one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Hualien - the Eight-Layered Emeralds. It has an elevation of 108 meters and covers an area of over 50 hectares. To the east, it faces the vast blue Pacific Ocean, while the Meilun River meanders beneath its western foothills, making it a popular spot for Hualien County residents to exercise during dawn and dusk. The Southern Martyrs' Shrine offers a vantage point to overlook Hualien City. The Meilun Mountain Ecological Exhibition Hall and the National Museum of Natural Science display various insects such as fireflies, rhinoceros beetles, and dragonflies, serving as an outdoor teaching field for many elementary schools in Hualien. The park features a children's play area, with the entrance to the hiking trail located just behind it, allowing for jogging or walking along a path that is approximately 800 meters long. The trail is lined with acacia trees, creating a pleasant environment for a leisurely stroll. During the day, Meilun Mountain is lively and vibrant, but exploring it at night reveals a world full of mystery and surprises. The open space and ditches surrounding the Ecological Exhibition Hall are a paradise for various frog species; in summer, small yellow-edged fireflies light up the nights, while in autumn and winter, larger fireflies enhance the beauty of Meilun Mountain's evenings. Visitors can explore the various trails to immerse themselves in the serene beauty of Meilun Mountain and enjoy the feast of nature.
