He-Gang Pomelo Tourist Orchard Introduction
Hukou Village is located on the eastern hillside of Ruisui Township, Hualien County, overlooking Ruisui Town across the Fuyuan River. Heading east from downtown Ruisui, after crossing the Ruigang Bridge and driving up along the industrial road, you will see gently sloping hills covered with pomelos. Most of these pomelo trees are over 20 years old. Around the time of the White Dew festival in the seventh lunar month, the pomelo harvest season begins. The Ruisui Hukou area has over 600 hectares of pomelo orchards, producing about 20 million pomelos annually, and in recent years it has become a well-known quality agricultural product in the Hualien area. In the past, Hukou was renowned for its black tea, but due to changes in market conditions, local farmers began to experiment with cultivating pomelos. After years of cultivation and improvement, the juicy, flavorful, and tender "Hukou Pomelo" has successfully expanded into the national market, opening up new opportunities for agricultural products in the Hukou area. In response to the trend of tourism, the orchards in Hukou have also started to develop for tourism. During the pomelo harvest season, the orchards are open for the public to come and pick Hukou pomelos. This not only saves farmers on labor costs for harvesting but also allows the public to experience the joy of fruit picking in the countryside. Visitors can not only enjoy the freshest Hukou pomelos but also take some home as gifts for friends and family.
