Hekou Pomelo Tourist Orchard Introduction

Hekou Village is located on the hillside on the eastern side of Ruisui Township in Hualien County, separated from Ruisui City by the distant Fuyuan River. Traveling east from Ruisui Town, after crossing the Ruigang Bridge and heading up the industrial road, you will see gentle hills filled with pomelo trees. Most of these trees are over 20 years old. The harvesting season for pomelos typically begins around the White Dew Festival in the seventh lunar month. The Hekou area in Ruisui has over 600 hectares of pomelo orchards, producing about 20 million pomelos annually, and has recently gained a reputation for high-quality agricultural products in Hualien County. In the past, Hekou was renowned for its black tea, but due to changes in market conditions, local farmers began experimenting with pomelo cultivation. After years of nurturing and improvement, the juicy, flavorful, and fragrant "Hekou pomelo" has successfully expanded into the national market, creating a new identity for Hekou's agricultural products. In response to the trend of tourism, the orchards in Hekou have also started to develop tourism. During the pomelo harvest season, the orchards open their gates to the public, allowing people to pick Hekou pomelos. This not only saves farmers on labor costs but also lets the public experience the joy of fruit picking in the countryside. Visitors can enjoy the freshest Hekou pomelos and even take some home as gifts for family and friends.
