He Bei Pomelo Tourist Orchard Introduction

Hekeng Village is located on the eastern hillside of Ruisui Township in Hualien County, across the Fuyuan River and distant from the urban area of Ruisui. Walking east from the center of Ruisui, after crossing the Ruigang Bridge and following the industrial road upwards, you will see gentle hills covered with pomelo trees, most of which are over 20 years old. The harvest season for pomelos begins around the White Dew festival in the lunar calendar's July. The Hekeng area has over 600 hectares of pomelo orchards, producing approximately 20 million pomelos annually, which in recent years has made it a famous high-quality agricultural product in Hualien region. In the past, Hekeng was renowned overseas for its black tea; however, due to changes in market conditions, local farmers began experimenting with cultivating pomelos. After years of cultivation and improvement, the juicy, flavorful, and fragrant "Hekeng pomelo" has successfully expanded to the national market, creating a new reputation for the agricultural products of Hekeng. To adapt to the trend of tourism, the orchards in Hekeng have also begun to develop in the direction of tourism. During the harvest season of Hekeng pomelos, the orchards open their doors for the public to enjoy picking pomelos, which not only reduces labor costs for farmers but also allows visitors to experience the joy of fruit picking. Not only can they taste the freshest Hekeng pomelos, but they can also take some home as gifts for friends and family.
