Ruisui Hot Spring Introduction
Today, Ruysui Township is also referred to by some locals as "Hot Spring Town" due to the recent discovery of more than thirty hot springs in Ruixiang Village. This has led many operators originally engaged in agriculture and livestock to shift towards the hot spring leisure industry. The Hualien County Government has commissioned the Huadong Valley National Scenic Area Administration to plan the Ruysui Hot Spring Recreation Area and has adopted local hot spring total control in accordance with the National Hot Spring Law to assist the developed hot spring businesses in renovating roads, drainage, and public recreational facilities. This has revitalized the old appearance of the Ruysui Hot Spring Area and indirectly spurred the growth of bed and breakfasts and restaurants in the hot spring recreation area. Currently, there are several larger-scale hot spring recreation parks established, including Tiger Ye Hot Spring, Huang's Hot Spring, and Donggang Xiuchuan, where the water temperature generally ranges from 43 to 48 degrees Celsius, and the pH value of the carbonate spring is about 6 to 7, categorizing it as weakly alkaline. The hot springs originate from underground sources and are rich in minerals such as iron and barium, giving the water a rusty yellow or reddish color, with a thick layer of minerals floating on top, referred to as "tanghua" or "hot spring flowers," which is quite beneficial for human health and wellness. It is said that some Japanese visitors who are particular about hot springs even make a special trip to Ruysui to enjoy the baths!
