The meat dumplings, known for having a "mother's taste," became unexpectedly popular, leading the business to shift from a pushcart to a storefront. Due to its location beside the Hualien-Taitung Highway, it also received free publicity from passing travelers. Mama Tu’s Sticky Rice Dumplings carefully selects glutinous rice from Guanshan, and the filling uses non-polluting front leg pork from Hualien. The glutinous rice is stir-fried and steamed using Mama Tu's unique recipe developed over 30 years. The pork is braised in a proprietary sauce for two and a half hours, combined with a hint of mushrooms and other seasonings, resulting in a distinctly different flavor. Mama Tu’s Sticky Rice Dumplings are steamed first before being filled and then steamed again to infuse the aroma of the bamboo leaves, making them softer and chewier than typical dumplings pre-fried before steaming. Each grain is distinct, and with the shop's special sauce and a bowl of soup, it brings a taste of home!
