This led to transitioning from a pushcart to a store. Located alongside the Hualien-Taitung Highway, the shop also benefited from free advertising for passing travelers. Tu Mama's Meat Dumplings carefully selects the glutinous rice from Guangshan and the round glutinous rice, using fresh, uncontaminated front leg cut pork from Hualien for the filling. The glutinous rice is stir-fried and steamed using Tu Mama's unique recipe developed over 30 years. The pork is braised for two and a half hours in a secret sauce, combined with a small amount of shiitake mushrooms and other seasonings to create a fragrant meat filling. The method of steaming the glutinous rice before wrapping it with the filling allows for a different texture compared to the usual half-cooked stir-fried dumplings. The dumplings have a delightful chewiness, and with the special sauce drizzled on top and a bowl of soup, it brings a taste of simple home-cooked comfort!
