Jibei Island Introduction
Jibei Island is located about 5.5 kilometers north of Baisha Island and is the largest island in the northern waters of Penghu. It is also a popular spot for summer water activities in Penghu. The terrain of the island is higher in the east and lower in the west, consisting of beaches and sandbars formed by marine sedimentation. The formation of the Jibei sandbar is due to the constant erosion of the coastline by ocean currents, waves, and tides, which transport fallen rock debris and gravel to suitable locations for accumulation, extending outward. The beach stretches for thousands of meters in a long shape, covered with golden sand. Not only does it border the blue coastline, but there are also green coastal plants nearby, making it very beautiful. From a high vantage point, the color of the sea ranges from light blue to deep blue, complementing the golden sandy beach, attracting many tourists who enjoy water activities. Jibei Island is also known as the hometown of stone weirs, with around eighty fishing stone weirs of various sizes built around it, which represents one-seventh of the total number of stone weirs in Penghu County. There is a Jibei Stone Weir Cultural Museum located next to the tourist service center, divided into an outdoor stone weir art area and an indoor exhibition area, showcasing Jibei's stone weir culture in different forms. If you visit Jibei Island, you are welcome to stop by and enrich your travel experience.
