Jibei Island Introduction
Jibei Island is located about 5.5 kilometers north of Baisha Island and is the largest island in the northern seas of Penghu. It is a popular destination for water activities during the summer in Penghu. The island features a terrain that is higher in the east and lower in the west, characterized by beaches and sandbars formed from marine deposits, making it the most famous natural landscape on the island. The sandbars of Jibei are a result of long-term coastal erosion caused by ocean currents, waves, and tides, which transport eroded rock fragments and gravel to suitable locations to accumulate, extending outward and creating beaches that stretch for thousands of meters, displaying a long shape filled with golden sand. This area not only adjoins the azure coastline but is also surrounded by lush coastal vegetation, creating a stunning view. From above, the colors of the sea transition from light blue to dark blue, complemented by the sprawling golden beaches, attracting many tourists who enjoy water activities. Jibei Island is also known as the homeland of stone weirs, with more than eighty fishing stone weirs surrounding the area, accounting for one-seventh of the total number in Penghu County. There is a Jibei Stone Weir Cultural Center located next to the tourist service center, which is divided into an outdoor stone weir art area and an indoor exhibition area, showcasing the culture of Jibei's stone weirs in various forms. If you visit Jibei Island, be sure to stop by for a visit to enrich your travel experience.
