Jibei Island Introduction
Jibei Island is located about 5.5 kilometers north of Baisha Island and is the largest island in the northern seas of Penghu. It is a popular destination for water activities during the summer in Penghu. The island's terrain is characterized by a high east and low west, composed of beaches and sandbars formed by marine sedimentation, which are the most famous natural landscapes on the island. The formation of the Jibei sandbars is the result of coastal erosion caused by currents, waves, and tides that transport broken rock fragments and gravel to appropriate locations, where they accumulate and extend outward, forming a long beach that stretches for thousands of meters, covered with golden sand. This beautiful landscape not only borders the azure coastline but is also surrounded by green coastal vegetation. From above, the sea water exhibits a gradient from light blue to deep blue, paired with the golden sands, attracting many tourists who enjoy water activities. Jibei Island is also known as the hometown of stone fish traps, with more than eighty fishing stone traps built around the island, accounting for one-seventh of the total in Penghu County. There is a Jibei Stone Trap Cultural Museum located next to the visitor service center, which is divided into an outdoor stone trap art area and an indoor exhibition area, showcasing the stone trap culture of Jibei in various forms. If you visit Jibei Island, you are welcome to explore this museum, making your trip even more enriching.
