Jibei Island Introduction
Jibei Island is located about 5.5 kilometers north of Baisha Island, and it is the largest island in the northern sea of Penghu. It is also a popular spot for summer water activities in Penghu. The island has a terrain that is higher in the east and lower in the west, consisting of beaches and sandbars formed by marine sedimentary processes, which have become the most famous natural landscape on the island. The formation of Jibei's sandbars is due to the persistent erosion of the coastline by ocean currents, waves, and tides, which transport collapsed rock fragments and gravel to suitable locations for accumulation, extending outward to create thousands of meters of sandy beaches. The beaches are elongated and are covered with golden sand, adjacent to the blue coastline, and surrounded by green coastal vegetation, creating a beautiful scene. From above, the color of the sea transitions from light blue to deep blue, complemented by the golden sandy stretches, attracting many visitors who love water activities. Jibei Island is also known as the hometown of stone fish traps, with around eighty stone fish traps built around the island, accounting for one-seventh of the total in Penghu County. There is a Jibei Stone Fish Trap Culture Museum located beside the visitor service center, which includes an outdoor stone trap art area and an indoor exhibition area, showcasing Jibei's stone trap culture in various forms. If you visit Jibei Island, you are welcome to explore the museum to enrich your trip.
