Jibei Stone Weir Cultural Museum Introduction
In the southern bay of Jibei Island, to preserve the traditional stone weir culture, the "Jibei Stone Weir Cultural Museum" has been specially established. This museum is located on the eastern side of the Jibei Tourist Service Center and serves as a folk cultural center as well as an alternative museum. The establishment of the museum aims to compile the stone weir culture of Jibei Island and promote the ecology and landscape of stone weirs. Stone weirs are one of the features of coral reef fishing culture, scattered throughout the Penghu Islands. The types of stone weirs are generally similar, each typically consisting of a "weir house" for gathering fish and "extending feet" on both sides for guiding fish. The extending feet are designed in a "curled tail" shape based on the swimming habits of fish, allowing them to swim in but not out, representing the wisdom of the ancestors in fishing. The museum covers an area of about thirty ping and currently features both static displays and multimedia film presentations. Inside, there are over a hundred exhibits related to the agricultural, fishing, and pastoral tools needed for early village life, such as stone mills, pots of various sizes, and electric lanterns. The walkways include models of fishermen and printing scrolls, while the exhibition room displays the structure of stone weirs, construction methods, and fishing techniques, among others. Guided tour services are available every hour to enhance people's understanding of traditional stone weir fishing. 【Recommended time to stay】 1 hour
