Jibeishi Cultural Center Introduction
In the southern harbor of Jibei Island, the "Jibei Stone Weir Cultural Center" was specifically established to preserve the traditional stone weir culture. It is located on the east side of the Jibei Tourist Service Center and serves as a folk culture center as well as an alternative museum. The establishment of the center aims to consolidate the stone weir culture of Jibei Island and promote the ecology and landscape of stone weirs. Stone weirs are one of the characteristics of coral reef fishing culture, prevalent throughout the Penghu archipelago. The types of stone weirs are roughly similar, with each having a "weir house" for gathering fish and "extending legs" on both sides to guide the fish. The design of the extending legs follows the natural swimming habits of fish, creating a "curled tail" shape that allows fish to swim in but prevents them from swimming out, showcasing the wisdom of the ancestors in fishing. It covers an area of approximately 30 pings, with the exhibits divided into static displays and multimedia video presentations. The center displays over a hundred types of agricultural, fishing, and pastoral tools needed for early village life, including stone mills, jars of various sizes, and electric soil lamps. There are also models of patrollers and rubbings along the walkways, while the exhibition room showcases the structure, construction, and fishing methods of stone weirs, along with guided tour services at every hour to enhance people's understanding and knowledge of traditional stone weir fishing. 【Recommended stay time】 1 hour
