Jibei Stone Fish Weir Cultural Museum Introduction
In the southern bay of Jibei Island, in order to preserve the traditional stone weir culture, the "Jibei Stone Weir Cultural Center" was specially established. Located on the east side of the Jibei Tourist Service Center, this is a folk cultural center and an alternative museum. The establishment of the center aims to consolidate the stone weir culture of Jibei Island and promote the ecology and landscape of stone weirs. Stone weirs are characterized as part of the coral reef shelf fishing culture, which is prevalent throughout the Penghu archipelago. The types of stone weirs are generally similar and basically consist of a "weir room" to collect fish and "extensions" on both sides to guide the fish. The extensions are designed in a "curled tail" shape according to the swimming habits of the fish, allowing them to swim in but not out, representing the wisdom of the ancestors in fish catching. Covering an area of about 30 ping, the center currently features static displays and multimedia video playback. Exhibits include over a hundred types of agricultural, fishing, and pastoral tools necessary for early village life, such as stone mills, various jars, and electric soil lamps. The walkway has mannequins of fishermen and rolled prints on display. The exhibition rooms showcase the structure, construction, and fishing methods of stone weirs, and there are guided tours every hour to enhance people's understanding and knowledge of traditional stone weir fishing. 【Recommended stay time】 1 hour
