Jinmen Station was built by General Wu Hongluo and, along with Xiyu West Fort and Xiyu East Fort, is one of the most powerful forts in the entire Penghu archipelago. It has experienced Japanese occupation and the Qing-French War. After World War II, the area was taken over by the Kuomintang military. The original cannons lost their defensive capability and were scrapped in the 1940s. The base was subsequently occupied by the Army's Penghu Defense Command Tianan Camp, which added an underground passage on the south side of the fort, leading to the coast at the foot of the southern hills. Later, the military released the area to the Penghu County Government, and on November 21, 2001, it was announced as a national historic site, which is now open for visitation.

Matsu Jin Gui Tou Cultural Park Introduction

Jinmen Tou Fort was built by the general Wu Honglu and is one of the strongest forts in all of Penghu, along with Xiyu West Fort and Xiyu East Fort. It has experienced the Japanese occupation and the Qing-French war. After World War II, it was taken over by the Kuomintang, and the original cannons lost their defensive capabilities and were decommissioned in the 1940s. The base was later occupied by the Penghu Defense Command's Tiannan Camp, which added an underground passage on the south side of the fort that leads to the coast below the southern hillside. Eventually, the military released the site to the Penghu County Government, and on November 21, 2001, it was announced as a national historic site, now open for visitation. Jinmen Tou Fort is equipped with Armstrong breech-loading guns of varying calibers: seven, ten, and twelve inches. The design of the fort is similar to Xiyu West Fort, Xiyu East Fort, and Daceng North Fort, consisting of a brick and stone dome structure with rammed earth. The surrounding earthworks, fortifications, base, and the entrance archway of Jinmen Tou Fort are all well-preserved. At the entrance, there is an archway inscribed with the words "Tian Nan Lock," penned by General Wu Honglu. The compound can be divided into gun positions, outer walls, tunnels, official residences, barracks, and horse paths, forming a castle-like structure that integrates operations, training, and housing. The barracks within the park have been partitioned into spaces of varying sizes and now serve as exhibition areas. Due to the presence of military communication unit troops at that time, the deterioration of the historic site has been minimized, maintaining its original appearance. The park incorporates different military models and artillery models, along with a historical battle exhibition of Jinmen Tou Fort's underground tunnels, revitalizing the cultural heritage. Jinmen Tou Fort has become a new cultural tourism highlight in Penghu, where visitors can experience the atmosphere of past battlefields and plan a cultural tour combining nearby attractions such as Guanyin Pavilion and Duxing Village 10. 【Recommended visit duration】 2.5 hours.
