Lintou Park Introduction
Entering Lin Tou Park in the Huxi Township of Penghu, you will see a lush green landscape. Lin Tou Park is also one of the few green spaces in Penghu County. Since 1946, the Penghu County government has actively engaged in afforestation and has planted nearly 90,000 drought-resistant plants in this area. The park was established here in 1957. At the end of the entrance walkway on the right side is the Military Loyalty Shrine, originally named "Taiwan Province Penghu Military Cemetery," which was renovated and completed in 1989. Inside the shrine is a memorial stele inscribed with the words "Eternal Valor," written by the then Minister of National Defense, Yu Dawei, during the 823 Artillery Battle in 1958. The spirits of generals who died in the battle, such as Ji Xingwen, Zhao Jiaxiang, and Zhang Jie, are honored here. Lin Tou Park features shaded walking paths for tourists, and if you get tired, there are lovely relaxing benches and natural stone seats for visitors to rest. The park is filled with green grass, trees, and colorful flowers, making it a cool and relaxing place, perfect for hiking and leisure. Within the park is a memorial for the victims of the Flight 611 disaster, commemorating the tragic event on May 25, 2002, when China Airlines Flight 611, flying from Taipei to Hong Kong, unfortunately crashed into the sea near Mitu Islet in Penghu.
