Lintou Park Introduction
Entering Lin Tou Park in Huxi Township, Penghu, you are greeted by a lush landscape, as it is one of the few green spaces in Penghu County from earlier times. Since 1946, the Penghu County Government has actively engaged in afforestation, planting nearly 90,000 shrubs in this area. The park was established in 1957. To the right at the end of the entrance pathway of Lin Tou Park is the Military Martyrs' Shrine, originally named the "Penghu Military Cemetery of Taiwan Province," which was renovated and completed in 1989. Inside the archway of the shrine, there is a monument with the inscription "The Spirit Endures," written by then-Minister of National Defense Yu Dawei during the 823 Artillery Battle in 1958. The remains of military commanders such as Ji Xingwen, Zhao Jiaxiang, and Zhang Jie, who sacrificed their lives in the battle, are memorialized here. Lin Tou Park offers shaded pathways for visitors to stroll, and if you get tired, there are cute leisure seating areas and natural stone benches for rest. The park is filled with green grass, trees, and colorful flowers, providing a cool and relaxing environment, ideal for hiking and recreation. In the park, there is a memorial monument for the victims of the "525" air disaster, commemorating the passengers and crew who tragically lost their lives when China Airlines Flight 611 crashed near the island of Mito in Penghu while flying from Taipei to Hong Kong on May 25, 2002. [Recommended stay time] 1.5 hours.
