Lintou Park Introduction
Entering Lin Tou Park in Huxi Township, Penghu, one is greeted by lush greenery, making it one of the few green spaces in Penghu County since the early days. Since 1946, the Penghu County Government has actively engaged in afforestation, planting nearly 90,000 casuarinas in this area. The park was established here in 1957. At the end of the entrance path to Lin Tou Park, on the right side, stands the Martyrs' Shrine, originally named the Penghu Military Cemetery. It was renovated and completed in 1989. Inside the shrine's archway is a commemorative tablet inscribed with the words "Enduring Spirit," penned in 1958 by then-Minister of National Defense, Yu Dawei, during the Battle of August 23. Here lies the spirits of generals such as Ji Xingwen, Zhao Jiaxiang, and Zhang Jie, who sacrificed their lives during the battle. Lin Tou Park features shaded walking paths for tourists, and for those who need a break, there are charming leisure seats and natural stone benches available. The park is filled with green grass, trees, and colorful flowers, offering a refreshing retreat for hiking and leisure activities. Within the park is the "May 25" Air Disaster Memorial, dedicated to the passengers and crew who tragically lost their lives when China Airlines Flight 611, flying from Taipei to Hong Kong, crashed into the sea near Mituo Islet, Penghu, on May 25, 2002. 【Suggested Duration】 1.5 hours
