Lintou Park Introduction
Entering Lin Tou Park in the Hu Xi Township of Penghu, one is greeted by a lush green landscape, and Lin Tou Park is also one of the few green spaces in Penghu County from earlier times. Starting from 1946, the Penghu County Government actively engaged in afforestation, planting nearly 90,000 species of Ephedra in this area. Subsequently, the park was established here in 1957. On the right side at the end of the entrance path of Lin Tou Park is the Military Loyal Spirit Shrine, originally named the "Taiwan Province Penghu Military Cemetery." It was renovated and completed in 1989. Inside the shrine archway is a monument inscribed with the words "Eternal Righteousness," written in 1958 by the then Minister of National Defense, Yu Da-wei, during the 823 Artillery Battle. Generals such as Ji Xing-wen, Zhao Jia-xiang, and Zhang Jie, who lost their lives in the 823 Artillery Battle, are commemorated here. Lin Tou Park features shaded walking paths for tourists, and if one gets tired, there are charming leisure seats and natural stone benches available for resting. The park is filled with green grass, trees, and vibrant flowers, making it an ideal place for hiking and recreation. Within the park, there is a monument commemorating the victims of the May 25 aviation accident, which honors the passengers and crew of China Airlines Flight 611, which tragically crashed into the sea near Mituo Islet, Penghu, on May 25, 2002.
