Lintou Park Introduction
Lin Tou Park, established in the 35th year of the Republic of China, saw the first planting of over 90,000 Casuarina trees along the Lin Tou coastline. By the time the park was officially established in 42, these trees had already created a lush green environment. To the right at the end of the entrance path is the Military Martyrs' Shrine, originally known as the "Penghu Military Cemetery of Taiwan", which was built in the 43rd year of the Republic of China. It is one of the earliest military cemeteries in Taiwan. In the 75th year, it underwent renovations, and the main structure was transformed into a three-story building, completed in the 78th year. Inside the archway of the shrine is a monument inscribed with the words "The righteous spirit endures", written by then Minister of National Defense Yu Dawei during the 823 Artillery Battle in the 47th year of the Republic of China. Generals such as Ji Xingwen, Zhao Jiaxiang, and Zhang Jie, who died in the 823 Artillery Battle, are honored here. Lin Tou Village got its name from the dense growth of Casuarina trees along the sides of a small creek in the southeast of the early settlement. It is said that the current Lin Tou Park and the large sandy beach to its east were once covered with Casuarina trees. The Casuarina tree is known for its strong wind resistance and sand stabilization capabilities, making it an ideal species for the unique climate of Penghu. Currently, only a small cluster of these trees remains in the northern part of the park, as most of the trees have been removed and replaced with Casuarina forests or other decorative plants. The beach of Lin Tou Park stretches across three villages—Jianshan, Lin Tou, and Aimen—totalling over 3,000 meters, making it the longest beach in all of Penghu, surrounding the southern coastline of Huxi Township with magnificent scenery. The sand is dense and the water is crystal clear, making it a beautiful, clean "white coral sand beach." Visitors can walk southwest from Jianshan and Lin Tou to reach the long, curved beach of Aimen, and Lin Tou Park is the most convenient spot to enjoy the sea. The park’s lush shade, tranquility, pavilions, and wooden benches provide the perfect place to relax and cool off after enjoying beach activities under the bright sun.
