林投公園

Lintou Park was established in 1946 when over 90,000 Casuarina trees were planted along the Lintou coastline. By 1953, when the park was officially established, the Casuarina trees had already formed lush greenery throughout the area. At the end of the entrance path to the park, on the right side, lies the Military Martyrs' Shrine, originally known as the "Penghu Military Cemetery of Taiwan Province," which was founded in 1954 and is the earliest military cemetery in Taiwan. It underwent renovation in 1986, transforming the main building into a three-story structure, completed in 1989. Inside the archway of the shrine stands a monument with the inscription "The Spirit Endures" penned by then-Minister of National Defense Yu Dawei during the 823 Artillery Battle in 1958. Here, the spirits of generals such as Jixing Wen, Zhao Jiajun, and Zhang Jie, who died in the 823 Artillery Battle, are memorialized. Lintou Village got its name from the early settlements thriving on both sides of the small creek in the southeast, once densely populated with Casuarina trees; it is said that the current Lintou Park and the vast beach to its east were once covered in these trees.

Lintou Park Introduction

Lintou Park was established in 1946 when over 90,000 casuarina trees were first planted along the Lintou coastline. By 1953, when the park was officially designated, the casuarina trees had already created a lush green environment. At the end of the entrance path on the right side stands the Martyrs' Shrine, originally named the "Penghu Military Cemetery," which was built in 1954 and is the earliest military cemetery in Taiwan. It underwent renovations in 1986, transforming the main structure into a three-story building, completed in 1989. Inside the shrine's archway, there is a monument inscribed with "Enduring Valor," written by then-Minister of National Defense Yu Da-wei during the 1958 August 23rd Artillery Battle. Generals such as Ji Xingwen, Zhao Jiaxiang, and Zhang Jie, who perished during the battle, are honored here. Lintou Village got its name from the dense growth of casuarina trees along both sides of the small stream in the southeast. It is said that the current Lintou Park and the large sandy beach to its east were once covered with these trees. The casuarina trees are excellent species known for their strong wind resistance and sand fixation, making them particularly suitable for the unique climate of Penghu. Currently, only a small cluster of these trees remains on the northern side of the park, while others have been removed and replaced with casuarina forests or other ornamental trees. The beach at Lintou Park stretches over three villages: Jianshan, Lintou, and Aimen, totaling more than 3,000 meters, making it the longest beach in all of Penghu, encircling the southern coastline of Huxi Township, offering magnificent scenery. The beach features fine sand, and the water is crystal clear, creating a beautiful "white coral sand beach." Visitors can easily access the beach from Jianshan and Lintou to the southwest, reaching the arc-shaped, narrow Aimen beach. Lintou Park is the most convenient spot for enjoying the sea. The park's shaded areas, tranquility, pavilions, and wooden benches provide the perfect place to rest and cool off after enjoying beach activities under the bright sun.
