Lin-tou Beach Introduction
In addition to its romantic scenery, Lintou Beach also offers the opportunity to experience Penghu's traditional fishing method known as "Qian Gu." Lintou Village is one of the few places in Penghu where the tradition of "Qian Gu" continues. Qian Gu was a common method for the ancestors of Penghu to catch fish, but with the advancement of modern fishing gear and changes in lifestyle, it has gradually declined and now serves as a local tourism experience. The term "Qian Gu" refers to the use of beach seine nets to catch fish, suitable for shallow sandy beaches with no rocky seabed. The activity typically takes place at dawn or dusk. Fishermen first take a small boat out to the outer areas to deploy the fishing net into the sea. Then, people on the shore will secure both ends of the net to the land and together pull the net toward the shore, ultimately retrieving the catch within the net. The catch will vary by season, with common catches including mackerel, flathead mullet, and squid. Any small fish or non-edible marine creatures caught in the net are returned to the sea.
