Linto Beach Introduction
In addition to the romantic scenery, at Lintou Beach, one can also experience the traditional fishing method of Penghu known as "Qian Gu." Lintou Village is one of the few places in Penghu that continues the traditional "Qian Gu" activity. Qian Gu is one of the common methods used by the ancestors of Penghu to catch fish. However, with advancements in modern fishing gear and changes in lifestyles, Qian Gu has gradually declined and is now transformed into a local tourism experience. Qian Gu involves using a beach seine to catch fish, suitable for shallow sandy beaches where there are no reefs on the seabed. The activity usually takes place at dusk or dawn. Fishermen first take a small boat out to the outer waters to set the fishing net in the sea. Once the net's two ends are secured to the shore, everyone works together to pull the net towards the shore, ultimately hauling up the catch. The catch varies by season, and common catches include Spanish mackerel, mackerel, and squid. Any small fish or non-edible marine creatures caught in the net are returned to the sea.
