Lintou Beach Introduction
In addition to the romantic scenery, Lintou Beach also offers the experience of traditional fishing methods in Penghu, known as "Qian Gu." Lintou Village is one of the few places in Penghu where the traditional "Qian Gu" activity continues. Qian Gu is one of the common methods used by the ancestors of Penghu to catch fish. However, with the advancement of modern fishing gear and changes in lifestyle, Qian Gu has gradually declined and has now become a local tourism activity. The so-called Qian Gu involves using a beach seine to catch fish, which is suitable for shallow sandy beaches and areas without rocky seabeds. This activity is typically conducted at dawn or dusk. Fishermen first take a small boat out to the outer edges and place the fishing net in the water. Those on the shore then secure both ends of the net to the beach and work together to pull the net back to the shore, ultimately retrieving the catch from the net. The catch can vary by season, commonly including mackerel, bamboo fish, and squid. If the net contains small fish or non-edible marine creatures, they are returned to the sea.
