Chen Wei Temple Introduction
Deity Worshiped: Zhenwu Emperor Festival Date: The third day of the third lunar month Immigrants from Kinmen in Fujian settled in this area during the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, worshiping the statue of General Liu as a protective deity. A small temple was first established at this original site in the eighth month of the thirty-eighth year of the Kangxi Emperor (1699). In the twenty-fifth year of the Qianlong Emperor (1760), it was rebuilt, and the statue of Lord Chi was added for worship, officially named Chenwei Temple. Since then, it has undergone four renovations. In the spring of the fifty-third year of the Republic of China (1964), the initiators Chen Peng and Li Yu convened a meeting for the fifth renovation. After selecting an auspicious date, the renovation began at the seventh hour on the eighth day of the third month of the fifty-fourth year of the Republic of China (1965). The holy deity was respectfully welcomed into the temple and seated during the fifth hour on the fifth day of the first month of the following year (1966), and it was completed over the years.
