Green Turtle Conservation Center Introduction
Next to Tanmen Harbor, there is a streamlined building located to the southeast of Wang'an; the facility is well-equipped and currently divided into sections: a green sea turtle introduction area, a turtle and human ecology exhibition area, a seabird introduction area, and an introduction to tourism in the South China Sea. At the entrance of the exhibition hall, there is a special "Hao Shan Tang" stone tablet, which records how local gentry in the Wang'an area raised funds to protect sea turtles and oxen, with the inscription stipulating financial rewards for residents showing compassion towards life, and at the same time, reporting to the authorities to punish violators heavily, indicating a balance of grace and severity. This inscription has now become an important testament to the early ancestors' commitment to sea turtle ecological conservation. Upon entering the facility, visitors can appreciate Wang'an's natural ecology, with terns and conservation species on display. The most important exhibit, the "green sea turtle," provides information on the characteristics and distribution of various turtle species, as well as insights into sea turtles and community blessing activities such as "Lantern Festival Turtle Blessing," marine ecology, and historical culture, all of which can be understood inside the center. The purpose of the center's establishment is to provide the equipment and resources necessary for academic institutions to conduct station-based research, while the establishment of the "Green Sea Turtle Ecotourism Conservation Center" not only provides a perfect research station for the study of green sea turtle ecology in Wang'an, Penghu but also serves as a local ecological education center. The entire exhibition is designed with an environmentally themed, situational approach, offering a combination of aesthetic and intellectual ecological education.
