Green Turtle Conservation Center Introduction
Next to Tamen Port, there is a streamlined building located to the southeast of Wang'an; the facility is well-equipped and currently divided into: a green sea turtle introduction area, a turtle and life ecology display area, a seabird introduction area, and an introduction to tourism in the South China Sea. At the entrance of the exhibition hall, there is a special "Hao Shan Tang" stone tablet, inscribed with records of past gentry in the Wang'an area raising funds to protect sea turtles and plowing oxen, with a stipulation that residents who show compassion for life would be rewarded, while those who violate would face severe penalties from the authorities, to exemplify both grace and authority. This inscription has now become an important testament to the early ancestors' efforts in sea turtle ecological conservation. Entering the facility, the natural ecology of Wang'an comes into view, with shearwaters and various protected species appearing. The most important "green sea turtle" section includes information on distinguishing characteristics and distribution of various turtle species, as well as insights into the blessings activities related to sea turtles, marine ecology, and historical culture. The purpose of the center's construction is to provide equipment and resources for academic institutions to conduct research work on-site, and the establishment of the "Green Sea Turtle Conservation Center" not only offers a perfect research station for green sea turtle ecological research in Wang'an, Penghu, but also serves as a local ecological education center. The entire exhibition is designed based on environmental and situational concepts, providing a sensuous and intellectual ecological educational environment.
