Green Sea Turtle Conservation Center Introduction
Next to Zhaimen Harbor, there is a streamlined building located to the southeast of Wang-an; the center is well-equipped with facilities. Currently, the museum is divided into several areas: the Green Sea Turtle Introduction Area, the Turtle and Human Ecology Exhibition Area, the Seabird Introduction Area, and the South China Sea Tourism Introduction. At the entrance of the exhibition hall, there is a special "Haoshan Hall" monument, which documents how the local gentry in the past raised funds to protect sea turtles and draft oxen, establishing the monument to commend residents for showing compassion towards life, while also notifying the authorities to impose heavy penalties on violators, demonstrating a balance of grace and severity. This inscription has now become an important testimony to the early settlers' efforts in the conservation of the sea turtle ecology. Entering the hall, the natural ecology of Wang-an is fully presented, with terns and various protected species appearing. The most important is the "Green Sea Turtle," with information on the distinguishing features and distribution environments of various turtle species, as well as their connections to community blessing activities, marine ecology, and historical culture which can all be understood within the center. The purpose of establishing the center is to provide facilities and resources for academic institutions to conduct research work, while the establishment of the "Green Sea Turtle Conservation Center" not only provides a perfect research station for Green Sea Turtle ecological studies in Wang-an, Penghu, but also serves as a local ecological education center. The overall exhibition is designed with environmental and situational concepts, offering an emotional and intellectual ecological education environment.
