Tanmen Harbor Introduction

Tamshui Port is the most important gateway for Wangan, serving as a transit station for ferries operating between the islands of Nansha, Qimei, Huojing, Tongpan, and Jianguangyu, as well as connecting to Magong. It is also the main fishing port for Wangan, with other ports such as Zhongsha Fishing Port and Shui'an Fishing Port gradually falling into disuse. The settlement of Dong'an Village, located on the southeastern side of the port, is the most densely populated village on Wangan Island. The Tamshui Port area is the liveliest and most commercially active place in Wangan, featuring various service providers like food stalls, ice cream shops, car rental agencies, and convenience stores. The pavilion area at the dock is where tourists and locals often escape the sun and wait for ferry departures. Adjacent to Tamshui Port is a streamlined building located southeast of Wangan, which is just a short walk away from the Green Sea Turtle Conservation Center. The center has well-equipped facilities and currently features sections for introducing green sea turtles, turtle and human ecological displays, sea bird presentations, and tourism information about the South China Sea. Watching the sunrise and gazing at Jianguang Island from the port are also great experiences. Various yachts and ferries dock here, and it is important to return to the port 10 minutes before the scheduled departure of the yacht. [Recommended stay time] 0.5 hours, depending on the ferry’s stopover duration.
