Chang He Temple Introduction
The construction and maintenance of Changhe Temple are closely related to the suburban merchants in the Hsinchu area. In 1819 (the 24th year of Jiaqing), the local households cooperated to fund its renovation. In 1866 (the 5th year of Tongzhi), the local households again financed its restoration. These suburban merchants sought convenience and used Changhe Temple as a meeting place, making it a guild hall for the area. The deities worshipped in the temple, Mazu and Sui Xian Zun Wang, are both gods of navigation, becoming the center of faith for the suburban merchants.
