Hsinchu Shuixian Temple Introduction

Shuixian Zunwang is one of the sea gods in Chinese culture. The Shuixian Zunwang worshiped in various places includes figures such as Dayu, Xiang Yu, Qu Yuan, Wu Zixu, Li Bai, and Wang Bo. The Shuixian Palace primarily enshrines Shuixian Zunwang as Dayu, originally worshiped in the rear hall of the Changhe Palace. Due to the growing population in the North Gate area, Shuixian Palace was built on the left side of Changhe Palace in 1863 specifically to honor the maritime deity. The birthday of Shuixian Zunwang, celebrated on the tenth day of the tenth lunar month, is the most important festival at Shuixian Palace.
