Hsinchu Shuisian Temple Introduction
Shui Xian Zun Wang, also known as the God of the Sea in China, is worshipped in various places alongside other figures such as Da Yu, Xiang Yu, Qu Yuan, Wu Zixu, Li Bai, and Wang Bo. The main deity enshrined in Shui Xian Temple is Da Yu, originally worshipped in the rear hall of Chang He Temple. As the population in the North Gate area gradually increased, Shui Xian Temple was built on the left side of Chang He Temple in 1863 specifically to honor the maritime deity. The most important festival of Shui Xian Temple occurs on the 10th day of the 10th lunar month, which marks the birthday of Shui Xian Zun Wang.
