Hsinchu City Hall (Hsinchu City Art Museum and Development Museum) Introduction

During the Japanese colonial period, Taiwan implemented a city and township system. In 1920, Hsinchu City established the Hsinchu Street Office, which was upgraded to Hsinchu City Office in 1930, serving as an office building. The city office is equivalent to today's city government. After the war, the Hsinchu City Office was used as the headquarters of the Kuomintang. This two-story red-brick building can be considered a quite typical style among the existing city offices.
