Hsinchu City Hall (Hsinchu City Museum of Art and Development) Introduction
During the Japanese colonial period, Taiwan implemented a town and village system. Hsinchu City established the Hsinchu Town Office in 1920, which was upgraded to Hsinchu City Office in 1930 and served as an administrative office. The city office is equivalent to today’s city hall. After the war, the Hsinchu City Office was used as the headquarters of the Kuomintang. This two-story red brick building can be considered a typical example among the existing city offices.
