Gaofeng Botanical Garden Introduction

The Gaofeng Botanical Garden, which resembles a forest park, was established in 1932 during the Japanese colonial period, originally named "Hsinchu Prefectural Chituqi Forestry Experiment Station." It served as a nursery for cultivating various native and foreign tree species. After the war, it merged with the Hsinchu Agricultural and Forestry Improvement Institute to become the "Hsinchu Mountain Management Office Gaofeng Nursery." In 1960, with the reorganization of the Taiwan Forestry Bureau, it came under the jurisdiction of the Hsinchu Forest District Management Office. The Gaofeng Botanical Garden covers a large area, bordered by Gaocui Road, Baoshan Road, and Gaofeng Road, and is home to a total of 342 plant species, with explanatory signs placed along the walking paths. Throughout the year, migratory and resident birds visit, with 40 species of birds and 20 species of insects currently documented. The park is designed with hiking trails, making it an ideal place for outdoor fitness and walking on weekends.
