Gaofeng Botanical Garden Introduction
The Gaofeng Botanical Garden, resembling a forest park, was established in 1932 during the Japanese occupation and was initially named "Hsinchu Prefectural Chih Tuk Tsai Forestry Experiment Station." It set up a nursery to cultivate various native plants and exotic tree species. After the war, it merged with the Hsinchu County Agricultural Improvement Institute to form the "Hsinchu Mountain Management Office Gaofeng Nursery," and in 1960, it fell under the jurisdiction of the Hsinchu Forest District Office following the reorganization of the Taiwan Forestry Bureau. The Gaofeng Botanical Garden covers a large area, surrounded by Gaocui Road, Baoshan Road, and Gaofeng Road, and features a total of 342 plant species, with plant description signs placed along the trails. Migratory birds pass through or reside in the garden throughout the four seasons, with 40 bird species and 20 insect species currently identified. The area is equipped with hiking trails, making it an ideal place for health and walking on weekends.
