Gaofeng Botanical Garden Introduction
The Gaofeng Botanical Garden, which resembles a forest park, was established in 1932 during the Japanese colonial period and was originally named the "Hsinchu Prefectural Chitouqi Forestry Experimental Station." It set up a nursery and cultivated various native plants and foreign tree species. After the war, it merged with the Hsinchu County Agricultural Improvement Station to become the "Gaofeng Nursery of the Hsinchu Forest Management Office," and in 1960 it came under the jurisdiction of the Hsinchu Forest District Office following the reorganization of the Taiwan Forestry Bureau. The Gaofeng Botanical Garden covers a large area, enclosed by Gaocui Road, Baoshan Road, and Gaofeng Road. There are a total of 342 plant species within the park, with explanatory signs placed along the walking paths. Throughout the seasons, migratory birds pass through or reside in the area, with currently 40 bird species and 20 insect species identified. Walking trails have been planned within the park, making it an ideal place for exercise and walking on weekends.
