Liucuo Village Centenary Tree Introduction

The Century-Old Banyan Tree in Liu Cuo Village, Chiayi City, is estimated to be around 200 years old. It is located near the cemetery in Liu Cuo Village and is revered as the "King of Birds" by locals. Its shape naturally resembles a large umbrella. Currently, the nearby Wanlingong Temple is bustling with worshippers, and their prayers have been answered. In the winter of 1977, the Wanlingong Temple Management Committee was established, with Mr. Chen Jinzhong serving as the chairman. The committee actively raised funds and organized the surrounding environment, undertaking renovations that included the construction of an octagonal pavilion, a fish pond, a Changchun Club, and asphalt roads. Volunteers also assisted in maintaining the area, rejuvenating the environment around the ancient banyan tree. During an inspection by former Mayor Ms. Zhang Boya, it was officially recognized as the "King of Zhu Luo Bird Banyan." This magnificent tree has a canopy area of approximately over 1,000 square meters. Its sturdy lateral branches stand tall and straight, supporting the main trunk as it continues to grow sideways. Thanks to the efforts of the government and residents, this area has flourished, creating a cool shaded space while also providing suitable play equipment for children, making it a great place for people of all ages.
