Liu Cuo Village Century-old Tree Introduction

The century-old banyan tree in Liu Cuo Village, Chiayi City, is estimated to be around 200 years old. It is located near the cemetery in Liu Cuo Village and is revered as the old banyan tree of Wanjing Gong, with a natural form resembling a large umbrella. Currently, the Wanjing Gong Temple is bustling with worshippers, who come to offer incense and seek blessings. In the winter of 1977, the Wanjing Gong Temple Management Committee was established, with Mr. Chen Jinzhong serving as the chairman. The committee actively raised funds and improved the surrounding environment, including the planning of new buildings, a hexagonal pavilion, a fish pond, a Changchun Club, and paved asphalt roads. Volunteers also engaged in maintenance work, transforming the area around the old banyan tree. During an inspection by former Mayor Ms. Zhang Boya, it was honored as the "King of Zhu Luo Banyan Tree." The "King of Zhu Luo Banyan Tree" is quite magnificent, with a crown area of over one thousand square meters. The lateral branches stand tall and straight, supporting the trunk as it continues to grow outward. Under the care of the government and residents, it has flourished, creating a cool shaded area while providing play equipment suitable for children, making it a great place for people of all ages.
