Liu Cuo Village Centenary Tree Introduction

The century-old banyan tree in Lioucuo Village, Chiayi City, is estimated to be around 200 years old. It is located near the cemetery of Lioucuo Village and is revered as the old banyan tree of Wailing Gong, resembling a large umbrella in shape. Currently, the Wailing Gong Temple has a flourishing incense business, with crowds of worshippers coming to pray for requests to be fulfilled. In the winter of 1977, a management committee for the Wailing Gong Temple was established, with Mr. Chen Jinzhong serving as the chairman. He actively raised funds and organized the surrounding environment, planning renovations that included the construction of an octagonal pavilion, a fish pond, a Changchun club, and paved roads. Volunteers also provide cleaning and service, revitalizing the area around the old banyan tree. During an inspection by former Mayor Ms. Chang Po-ya, it was honored with the title "Zhuliao Bird Banyan King." The Zhuliao Bird Banyan King is truly magnificent, with a crown area of over 1,000 square meters. Its sturdy lateral branches stand tall, straight, and support the trunk as it continues to grow sideways. With the efforts of the government and residents, the tree has thrived, creating a cool shaded area and providing play equipment suitable for children, making it a great place for people of all ages.
