Banciao Houshan Shopping District (Fuzhong Shopping District) Introduction
The Fu Zhong shopping district, developed around the Banqiao Old Station, encompasses sections of Zhongshan Road, Sichuan Road, Guanqian East Road, and Chongqing Road, which was once the liveliest area in Banqiao. After the Banqiao Train Station relocated to the New Banqiao area in 1999, the old station was transformed into Fu Zhong Metro Station. In recent years, through improvements to pedestrian pathways, public art installations, and streetscape enhancements, the Fu Zhong shopping district has successfully integrated with the New Banqiao area, evolving into a metropolitan complex that combines cultural and tourism appeal. As a trendy area favored by the younger crowd, Fu Zhong brings together boutique fashion, pop culture, and diverse cuisine, offering vibrant and youthful merchandise, making it one of the most modern and energetic districts in New Taipei City. With convenient transportation via Fu Zhong Metro Station and the nearby Banqiao Station, it connects surrounding malls and restaurants, creating a comfortable and convenient leisure shopping environment. The Fu Zhong Plaza on both sides of Xianmin Boulevard and the Very Hot Zone Plaza serve as two major event stages in the shopping district, hosting weekend markets and various themed activities. Since 2011, the Fu Zhong shopping district has held a Halloween costume party, attracting numerous visitors to participate, featuring live band performances, quirky markets, obstacle games, and various competitions, filling the entire district with a festive Halloween atmosphere. During the New Taipei City Christmas Festival, the lighting area extends from Civic Square into the Fu Zhong shopping district, illuminating the entire area.
