Banqiao Cihui Temple Introduction
Cihui Temple, dedicated to Mazu, is located in the bustling area of Banqiao District, New Taipei City. It serves as the center of Mazu worship for the old Bajie Fort's 17 villages and is collectively known as the five major temples of Bajie Fort along with Wenchang Temple (now in Banqiao District), Jieyun Temple (now in Banqiao District), Guangji Temple (now in Zhonghe District), and the Great Tomb Park in Daanliao Village (now in Tucheng District). Cihui Temple, with its rich history, is one of the oldest Mazu temples in the Banqiao area, and its traditional architectural style contrasts interestingly with the surrounding housing. The temple is adorned with intricate cut tile, carvings, and paintings, showcasing the beauty of traditional artistry with its magnificent and exquisite beams and rafters. The temple houses many precious historical artifacts, such as antique plaques and dragon columns from the Qing Dynasty's Guangxu and Tongzhi eras, inviting visitors to explore its historical treasures. Notably, Mazu's capable assistants—Qianliyan (Thousand-Mile Eye) and Shunfeng'er (Listening Ear)—hold gold ingots, attracting a constant stream of worshippers seeking prosperity during the festive seasons.
