Banqiao Ciwei Temple Introduction
Cihui Temple, dedicated to Matsu, is located in the bustling area of Banqiao District, New Taipei City. It serves as the center of Matsu faith for the old Bajiebao's seventeen villages and is collectively referred to as the "Five Great Temples of Bajiebao" along with Wenchang Temple (now in Banqiao District), Jiyun Temple (now in Banqiao District), Guangjigong (now in Zhonghe District), and Daanliao Cemetery (now in Tucheng District). Renowned for its vibrant incense offerings, Cihui Temple is one of the oldest Matsu temples in the Banqiao area. The traditional temple architecture is sandwiched between residential homes, creating an interesting contrast. Both the interior and exterior of the temple are adorned with intricate decorations such as paper-cutting, sculptures, and paintings, showcasing the aesthetic beauty of traditional arts. The temple houses many precious historical artifacts, including ancient plaques and dragon pillars from the Qing Dynasty's Guangxu and Tongzhi periods, inviting visitors to explore its history with a treasure-seeking mindset. Notably, Matsu's capable assistants, the "Eyes That See a Thousand Miles" and "Ears That Hear the Wind," hold gold ingots, attracting countless worshippers seeking wealth during festive seasons.
