Located near the Ying Stone Pavilion along the Sun Long Trail, this area was once part of a light rail (coal railway) used to transport coal from the nearby Wuyi Coal Mine No. 2, which has been closed for many years. The small tunnel on this light rail section used to be a section with a sharper curve. To ensure safety, the relevant authorities straightened the path and excavated this small tunnel. The No. 2 tunnel is the only small tunnel in the Yingge Mountain area, measuring only about ten meters in length and five meters in width, making it a relatively rare mini tunnel that often attracts curiosity from hikers who come to view or take photos as a memento.

Erkeng Tunnel Introduction

There are a total of eighteen hiking trails planned in the Yingge District of New Taipei City, making it suitable for mountain climbing enthusiasts. The Erkeng Tunnel is located near the Ying Stone Pavilion along the Sun Dragon Trail and was formerly a narrow-gauge railway (coal railway) used to transport coal from the now-closed Wuyi coal mine to the nearby Erkeng mine. The section of the narrow-gauge railway where this small tunnel is situated used to be a bendy curve. Later, to ensure safety, the relevant authorities straightened the curve by excavating this small tunnel. As the only small tunnel in the Yingge mountainous area, the Erkeng Tunnel is about ten meters long and only five meters wide, making it a relatively rare mini tunnel that often piques the curiosity of hikers who come to see or take photos.
