Located near the Ying Stone Pavilion along the Sun Long Trail, this area used to be part of a light rail line (coal railway) that facilitated the transport of coal from the nearby Wuyi Coal Mine No. 2, which has been closed for many years. The section of the light rail where this small tunnel is located originally had a large bend; relevant authorities, considering safety, decided to straighten the curve and excavated this small tunnel. As the No. 2 tunnel is the only small tunnel in the Yingge Mountain area, measuring approximately ten meters in length and only five meters in width, it is a relatively rare mini tunnel that often attracts curiosity from hikers who wish to view or take photos as a keepsake.

Erkang Tunnel Introduction

There are a total of eighteen planned hiking trails in Yingge District, New Taipei City, suitable for hiking enthusiasts. The Er-Keng Tunnel is located near the Ying-Shih Pavilion along the Sun-Long Trail. It was previously a narrow-gauge railway (coal transportation railway) used for transporting coal from the nearby Five-Yi Coal Mine’s Er-Keng, which has been closed for many years. This section of the narrow-gauge railway was originally a sharp curve. Later, for safety reasons, the relevant authorities decided to straighten the path and excavate this small tunnel. The Er-Keng Tunnel is the only small tunnel in the Yingge Mountain area, with a length of approximately ten meters and a width of only five meters. It is a relatively rare mini tunnel, often arousing curiosity among hikers who come to view or take photos of it.
