Lioulang Trail Introduction
The Liuliao Road Scenic Trail, located in Ruifang District, New Taipei City, is one of the northern routes of the Dalan Ancient Trail, with its entrance next to Parking Lot No. 9. "Liuliao" is derived from the homophone of "liulong" (流籠). This scenic trail has been renovated from the ancient path at the bottom of Liulong Road, which was originally used by local residents to descend the mountain for purchasing goods. In the past, mining and transportation of supplies relied on a liulong (a type of tramway) to ascend and descend, addressing issues where certain sections were too steep for manual transport. This scenic path, refurbished from the old Liulong Road, was carved out by the ancestors who traveled down the mountain to buy necessities. Historically, Jiufen Pit was also a mining site, which fell into decline due to low output. However, after the paths were reconstructed, visitors find the hiking experience particularly refreshing. At the summit, two observation platforms offer expansive views of Keelung, the Ruifang mountain city, and the coastline, providing an open and beautiful panorama.
