Bat Cave Park Introduction
Bat Cave Park, located in Ruifang District, New Taipei City, is situated near the coastal highway seaside tunnel (at the 75K mark of Taiwan Route 2). The park features a pavilion and parking area, as well as a bat viewing platform for visitors to observe bats in the evening. The park can be accessed via community roads (the former railway of Lian Dong Branch Line has been removed) leading to the coastal community, where remnants of Haibin Station can still be explored, offering a glimpse into the area's past prosperity. It is currently the largest known bat roosting cave in Taiwan, with bats visiting the cave every May and June, numbering in the hundreds of thousands. The visiting bats are female, gathering here to reproduce. The young bats leave in August and September and return the following year. The park has many bat-themed facilities and includes a viewing platform near the bat cave to facilitate visitor observation of the bat ecology.
