Bat Cave Park Introduction
Bat Cave Park, located in Ruifang District, New Taipei City, is adjacent to the coastal highway seaside tunnel (at the 75K mark of Provincial Highway 2). It features pavilions and a parking lot, as well as a bat viewing platform for visitors to enjoy watching bats in the evening. The park can be accessed via community roads (formerly the railway line of the Lian Dong Branch Line, which has been removed) leading to the Seaside Community, where remnants of the seaside station still remain for visitors to explore the past prosperity. It is also known as the largest known bat colony cave in Taiwan. Every year in May and June, bats begin to visit this cave, reaching numbers of up to several hundred thousand, and the bats that come here are female, gathering to reproduce. After the young bats grow and leave in August and September, they return the following year. The park has many bat-themed facilities and includes a viewing platform close to the bat cave, making it convenient for visitors to observe bat ecology.
