Bat Cave Park Introduction
Bat Cave Park, located in Ruifang District, New Taipei City, is situated near the coastal highway tunnel (at the 75K point on Taiwan Route 2). It features a pavilion and parking area, as well as a bat-watching platform for visitors in the evening. The park can be accessed via community roads that were once the old rail track of the Lian-dong branch line, leading to the seaside community, where remnants of Haibing Station still exist for visitors to explore past prosperity. This park is known to host the largest known bat colony in Taiwan. Each year in May and June, bats arrive at this cave, with numbers reaching up to hundreds of thousands. The bats that visit are female, gathering here to reproduce. After the young bats mature in August and September, they leave and return the following year. The park features many bat-themed facilities, including a viewing platform near the bat cave, allowing visitors to observe bat ecology conveniently.
