Bat Cave Park Introduction
Bat Cave Park, located in Ruifang District, New Taipei City, is situated near the coastal highway seaside tunnel (at the 75K point of Highway 2). The park features pavilions and a parking lot, along with a bat observation platform for visitors to enjoy bat watching in the evening. The park can be accessed via community roads (formerly the Lian Dong branch line of the dismantled railway) leading to Seaside Community. The old railway remnants, including the remains of Seaside Station, can still be explored by visitors to witness the once prosperous scene. This park is currently known to be the largest bat colony in Taiwan, with bats starting to visit this cave in May and June each year. The number can reach up to several hundred thousand, and the visiting bats are female, gathering here to reproduce. The young bats leave in August and September, but return the following year. The park has many bat-themed facilities, and a viewing platform is located near the bat cave to facilitate visitors observing bat ecology.
