Li Mei-shu Memorial Gallery Introduction
Located in the Sanxia District of New Taipei City, it was established in April 1995 as a memorial hall dedicated to Taiwan painter Li Meishu and the exhibition of his works. The hall collects the masterpieces and various artifacts of Mr. Li's life. Professor Li's creations primarily aim to present the beauty of Taiwan's local scenery, adopting a realistic painting style. His most beloved works depict the landscapes of Sanxia, filled with the artistic concept of "wind, earth, people, and emotion" that he emphasized. However, some of his works have a very unique style; for example, "The Boy Teasing the Turkey" uses 3D painting techniques, akin to the world-renowned painting "Mona Lisa." Master Li Meishu loved his hometown of Sanxia and spent half his life building the temple dedicated to the founder, making it one of the longest-maintained and most intricately crafted temples in Taiwan. One of the guides in the memorial hall is Master Li’s son, who is also a character that appears in some of the paintings, adding more interest and imagination to the experience of listening to the character explain the artworks.
