Mabang Town Riverside Park Introduction

Riding along the Xindian River on a bicycle, you can pass through a lush green area flanked by the irregular high-rise buildings on both sides. After traversing the Ma'anshan Bicycle Path, you can enter the "Ma'anshan Riverside Park," located by the Xindian River and adjacent to the Youth Park. Originally a military site, the park was transformed by the Taipei City Government through multiple negotiations and integrated with the nearby Huajiang Wild Goose and Duck Park and the Zhongzheng Riverside Park, providing a vast recreational space for the Wanhua District. The mornings in Ma'anshan are refreshingly beautiful. The long staircase by the riverbank serves as a perfect vantage point for watching the sunrise, offering a wide view of the river's reflections. On clear days, you can see the sun rising slowly beside the distant Taipei 101 building, with rays of sunlight occasionally breaking through the clouds and shining on the Xindian River, making the water shimmer with a golden hue—truly stunning. Within Ma'anshan Riverside Park stands a mound of earth, with a plaque in front that reads: "In the 1950s, passionate individuals pursuing social justice and political reform were arrested during the period of martial law and executed near this mound in Ma'anshan. This site is preserved to commemorate the deceased and acknowledge this historical event, paying tribute to the countless heroes who sacrificed their lives in Taiwan, allowing future generations to remember and reflect."
