Machangting Riverside Park Introduction
Riding a bicycle along the Xindian River, passing through a stretch of lush green grass bordered by towering buildings on both sides, you will arrive at "Banchao Riverside Park" after traversing the Banchao Bike Path. This park is located by the Xindian River and adjacent to the Youth Park. Originally a military site, the Taipei City Government negotiated with various parties to connect it with the nearby Huajiang Goose Park and Zhongzheng Riverside Park, creating a large recreational area for the Wanhua District. The mornings at Banchao offer a refreshing beauty. The long steps by the riverbank serve as a platform for watching the sunrise, providing a broad view with reflections visible in the stream. On clear days, the sunrise slowly rises next to the distant Taipei 101, with sunlight occasionally filtering through the clouds, casting golden rays upon the Xindian River, creating a stunning scene. Within Banchao Riverside Park stands a mound, with an inscription in front stating: "In the 1950s, passionate patriots pursuing social justice and political reform were arrested during the martial law period and executed near this Banchao mound. This site is preserved to commemorate the deceased and to remember this historical event, honoring the countless souls sacrificed in Taiwan, as well as providing a place for future generations to pay their respects and reflect."
