Machangting Riverside Park Introduction
Riding a bike along the Xindian River, surrounded by green grass and towering buildings on both sides, after passing the Machangding Bicycle Trail, you can enter the "Machuangding Riverside Park," located by the Xindian River and adjacent to Youth Park. Originally a military site, the park was later connected through negotiations by the Taipei City Government with the nearby Huajiang Wild Goose and Duck Park and Zhongzheng Riverside Park, providing a large recreational space for the Wanhua District. The mornings in Machuangding bring a refreshing beauty. The long staircase by the riverbank serves as an ideal viewing platform for watching the sunrise, offering a wide view where the reflections in the river can be seen; on clear days, you can see the sun slowly rising from behind the Taipei 101 building, with the sunlight occasionally breaking through the clouds and shining onto the Xindian River, creating a beautiful golden gleam on the surface. Inside Machuangding Riverside Park stands a mound, with a plaque in front stating: "In the 1950s, passionate individuals pursuing social justice and political reform were arrested during the martial law period and executed near this Machuangding mound. This site is preserved to remember the deceased and commemorate this historical event, to honor the countless heroes who sacrificed in Taiwan, and to provide a place for future generations to pay their respects and reflect."
