Mabingdong Riverside Park Introduction
Riding along the Xindian River on a bicycle, you will pass through a green lush area flanked by buildings of varying heights. After traversing the MaCang Ting Bicycle Path, you can enter "Macang Ting Riverside Park," a park located by the Xindian River, adjacent to Youth Park. The park, originally a military site, was transformed into a public recreational area after negotiations by the Taipei City Government, connecting it with the nearby Huajiang Goose Park and Zhongzheng Riverside Park, providing a spacious leisure area for the Wanhua District. In the mornings at Macang Ting, there is a refreshing beauty. The long staircase by the riverbank serves as a grandstand for watching the sunrise, offering a wide view where reflections can be seen in the river. On clear days, you can witness the sunrise slowly rising next to the distant Taipei 101, with sunlight occasionally breaking through the clouds and illuminating the Xindian River, casting a beautiful golden shimmer over the surface. Within Macang Ting Riverside Park stands a mound of earth, with an inscription in front stating: "In the 1950s, those passionate for social justice and political reform were arrested during the martial law period and executed near this mound in Macang Ting. This site is preserved in remembrance of the deceased and to commemorate this historical event, so that future generations may pay their respects to the countless heroes who sacrificed their lives in Taiwan."
