Machangding Riverside Park Introduction

Riding a bicycle along the Xindian River, you will pass through a lush green area flanked by uneven high-rise buildings. After traveling through the Mashiang Bicycle Path, you can turn into "Mashiang Riverside Park," which is situated by the Xindian River and adjacent to Youth Park. Originally a military site, Mashiang Riverside Park was developed by the Taipei City Government through various negotiations and connected with the nearby Huajiang Goose Park and Zhongzheng Riverside Park, providing a vast recreational area for the Wanhua District. The mornings in Mashiang are refreshingly beautiful. The long steps by the riverbank serve as a perfect vantage point to watch the sunrise, offering a wide view where reflections on the water can be seen. On clear days, you can witness the sun slowly rising from behind the 101 building in the distance, with rays occasionally breaking through the clouds to illuminate the Xindian River, creating a stunning golden glow on the river's surface. Inside Mashiang Riverside Park stands a mound of earth, in front of which a plaque reads: "In the 1950s, those passionate for social justice and political reform were arrested during the martial law period and executed near this mound in Mashiang. To honor the deceased and commemorate this historical event, the Mashiang execution mound has been preserved to pay homage to the countless souls who sacrificed their lives in Taiwan, allowing future generations to reflect and pay their respects."
