Machangting Riverside Park Introduction
Riding a bike along the Xindian River, passing through the lush green areas flanked by uneven skyscrapers, after traveling through the Ma boat town cycling path, you can enter the "Mabang Town Riverside Park," a park located by the Xindian River, adjacent to Youth Park. The "Mabang Town Riverside Park" was originally military land. Later, the Taipei City Government negotiated to connect it with the nearby Huajiang Wild Goose and Duck Park and Zhongzheng Riverside Park, providing a spacious recreational area for the Wanhua District. The mornings in Mabang Town have a refreshing beauty. The long stairs by the riverbank serve as a perfect viewing platform for watching the sunrise, offering a wide view with reflections visible in the stream. On clear days, you can see the morning sun slowly rising next to the Taipei 101 building from afar. Occasionally, sunlight breaks through the clouds, shining down on the Xindian River, making the surface of the river sparkle with a golden hue, which is truly beautiful. Within Mabang Town Riverside Park stands a mound of earth, with an inscription in front stating: "In the 1950s, for the pursuit of social justice and political reform, passionate individuals were arrested during the martial law period and executed near this mound in Mabang Town. This site is preserved to remember the deceased and commemorate this historical event, mourning the countless souls sacrificed in Taiwan, and to provide a space for future generations to pay their respects and reflect."
