Zhitanshan Hiking Trail Introduction
Zhitanshan Mountain is located in Quchi Village, Xindian District, New Taipei City, at the confluence of Xindian River, Beishi River, and Nanshi River. From the summit, one can overlook the Huayuan New City, gaze south towards Datong Mountain, and west towards Xiongkong Mountain. The mountain trail was also part of the Japanese colonial period's fortification line. Rising to an elevation of 728.8 meters, Zhitanshan Mountain is situated near Xindian River in the Quchi area of Xindian District, New Taipei City. From the northwest side of the summit, you can see the Huayuan New City community. The main ridge is the north ridge of Xueshan, with Datong Mountain and Luohong Mountains to the south, while Xiongkong Mountain and Shizi Mountain can be seen to the west. There are several hiking trails in the area, varying in length, with the main trail being the Zhitanshan Range Traverse, which requires hikers to cross seven mountain peaks, including Zhongling Mountain, Jixinjian, Anbaojian Mountain, Chijiao Orchid Mountain, and Shiding Back Mountain (over 25 kilometers in total). However, due to the long distance and significant elevation changes, this trek is generally not suitable for casual hikers, except for those with strong legs and stamina.
