Zhitanshan Trail Introduction
Zhítán Mountain is located in the Quchir neighborhood of Xindian District, New Taipei City, at the confluence of the Xindian River, Beishi River, and Nanshi River. The summit offers a view of the Garden New City nearby, with a southern view of Datong Mountain and a western view of Xiong Kong Mountain. The trails also serve as the former Wanan Line during the Japanese occupation. At an elevation of 728.8 meters, Zhítán Mountain sits close to the Xindian River in the Quchir area of Xindian District, New Taipei City. From the northwest of the summit, one can see the Garden New City community. The main ridge is the northern ridge of Xueshan. To the south, it faces Datong Mountain and Luohong Mountains, while to the west, it overlooks Xiong Kong Mountain and Lion Mountain. There are several hiking routes in the area, ranging in distance, with the main route being the Zhítán Mountain Trail that traverses seven peaks, including Zhongling Mountain, Jixin Peak, Anbaojian Mountain, Chijiaolan Mountain, and Shiding Back Mountain (a total of over 25 kilometers). However, due to the long distance and significant elevation changes, this route is generally not recommended for casual hikers, except for those who are experienced and fit.
