Zhitan Mountain Trail Introduction
Zhitanshan is located in Quchi Village, Xindian District, New Taipei City, at the confluence of Xindian Creek, Beishi Creek, and Nanshi Creek. From the summit, one can overlook the Huayuan New City nearby, gaze south at Datong Mountain, and view Xiongkong Mountain to the west. The mountain path was also part of the military line during the Japanese occupation. Standing at an elevation of 728.8 meters, Zhitanshan is situated near Xindian Creek in the Quchi area of Xindian District, New Taipei City. From the northwest of the summit, one can see the Huayuan New City community. The main ridge is the northern ridge of Xueshan, with Datong Mountain and Luohong Mountain to the south, and Xiongkong Mountain and Shizi Mountain to the west. There are several hiking routes in the area of varying lengths, with the main route being the Zhitanshan Longitudinal Trail, which requires traversing seven peaks, including Zhongling Mountain, Jixin Peak, Anbaojian Mountain, Chijiaolanshan, and the back mountain of Shiding (over 25 kilometers in total). However, due to the long distance and significant elevation changes, this trek is generally not suitable for casual hikers, except for those who are physically fit.
