Xindian Ferry Terminal Introduction
The ferry on the Xindian River began in the 7th year of the Guangxu period (1881). There are nine ferry crossings from the upper reaches to the middle reaches of the Xindian River, and the Xindian Ferry is currently the only remaining manual ferry crossing. In the past, the Xindian Ferry was the only transportation hub for accessing mountainous areas such as Wantan, Jitan, Tutan, and Quchi. As roads gradually opened, this area has become a popular scenic spot for leisure on weekends. Passengers traveling to Wantan can not only reminisce about the past but also enjoy the beautiful scenery of Bitan while savoring the pleasure of a gentle boat ride along the water's edge. Before the roads were constructed, some residents relied on ferries as their main mode of transportation. At that time, there were nine ferry crossings established along the river, which were gradually abandoned as land transportation improved. However, the "Xindian Ferry" connecting Wantan and Xindian is currently the only remaining manual ferry crossing along the river, and it continues to operate between Xindian and Wantan after hundreds of years.
