Xindian Ferry Terminal Introduction
The ferry at Xindien River began in the 7th year of the Guangxu era (1881). There are nine ferry docks from the upstream to the midstream of Xindien River, with the Xindien Ferry being the only remaining manually operated ferry dock today. In the past, the Xindien Ferry served as the only transportation hub to the mountainous areas of Wantan, Jhitang, Tutan, and Quchir. As the roads were gradually opened, this area has slowly transformed into a leisure tourist attraction on weekends. Residents or visitors taking the ferry to Wantan can not only indulge in nostalgia but also enjoy the beauty of Bitan while experiencing the delight of a light boat ride along the riverbank. Before the roads were built, some residents relied on ferries as their main means of transportation. At that time, nine ferry docks were established along the river, which were gradually abandoned as land transportation improved. However, the "Xindien Ferry Dock," connecting Wantan and Xindien, is currently the only remaining manually operated ferry dock along the river, continuing to operate between Xindien and Wantan even after hundreds of years.
