Xindian Ferry Terminal Introduction
The ferry on the Xindian River began in the 7th year of the Guangxu era (1881). There are nine ferry points from the upper to the middle reaches of the Xindian River, with the Xindian Ferry being the only remaining hand-pulled ferry today. In the early days, the Xindian Ferry was the only transportation hub for entering the mountainous areas of Wantan, Jitan, Tutan, and Quchi. As roads gradually opened, this area has become a tourist attraction for leisure on weekends. Residents or visitors taking the ferry to Wantan not only feel nostalgic but can also enjoy the beautiful scenery of Bitan while relishing a pleasant boat ride. Before the roads were opened, some residents relied on the ferry as their main means of transportation. At that time, there were nine ferry points along the river, which were gradually abandoned due to improvements in land transportation. However, the "Xindian Ferry" connecting Wantan and Xindian street is currently the only remaining hand-pulled ferry along the river, continuing to operate back and forth between Xindian and Wantan for hundreds of years.
