Xindian Ferry Terminal Introduction
The ferry on the Xindian River began in the 7th year of the Guangxu era (1881). There are nine ferry crossings from the upper reaches to the middle reaches of the Xindian River, with the Xindian Ferry being the only remaining manual ferry crossing today. In the early years, Xindian Ferry was the only transportation hub for entering the mountainous areas of Wantan, Jitan, Tutan, and Quchi in Xindian. As roads gradually opened up, this location has transformed into a tourist destination for leisure on weekends. Residents or visitors taking the ferry to Wantan not only reflect on history but also enjoy the beautiful scenery of Bitan while experiencing the pleasure of boating along the riverside. Before the roads were built, some residents relied on the ferry as their main means of transportation. At that time, nine ferry crossings were established along the river, which were gradually abandoned as land transportation improved. However, the "Xindian Ferry," connecting Wantan and Xindian Street, is currently the only remaining manual ferry crossing along the river, continuing to operate between Xindian and Wantan after hundreds of years.
