Xindian Ferry Terminal Introduction
The ferry at Xindian River began in the 7th year of the Guangxu reign (1881). There are nine ferry points along the upper to middle reaches of the Xindian River, and the Xindian Ferry is currently the only remaining manual ferry. In the early days, the Xindian Ferry was the only transportation hub for entering the mountainous areas of Wantan, Jitan, Tutan, and Quchi. As roads gradually opened, this area has turned into a leisure tourism spot during holidays. Residents or tourists taking the ferry to Wantan not only reminisce about the past but also enjoy the beauty of Bitan while experiencing the joy of a light boat ride along the riverbank. Before the roads were opened, some residents relied on the ferry as their main transportation method. At that time, nine ferry points were established along the river, but they were gradually abandoned due to improvements in land transportation. However, the "Xindian Ferry" connecting Wantan and Xindian Street remains the only manual ferry along the river, continuing to operate and ferrying between Xindian and Wantan after hundreds of years.
