Donghsing Temple Introduction
A few hundred meters from Longmen Camping Area, Dongxing Temple has stood since 10 B.C. In that year, known as the Year of the Water Tiger, local gentry Wu A-dai and Wu You-tou, for the peace and welfare of the villagers, specially invited the deities of Lin, Wen, and Fu from the Lingmiao Temple in Keelung and Pingdao Society to be worshipped at Wazi. They built a thatched small temple for worship, and miracles began to occur, bringing good weather, national prosperity, and peace for the people, with farmers and tradespeople thriving in their livelihoods. Those who prayed for healing found cures, and the number of believers grew day by day, leading to a flourishing incense offering. In 1926, the temple was remodeled, attaining its current grand and solemn appearance. The area of beachfront right in front of Dongxing Temple is a favorite spot for surfers in recent years. After enjoying a hearty meal at a nearby seafood restaurant, if you feel too lazy to move, why not spend a leisurely afternoon here? You can watch skilled surfers and lovely sea maidens show off their talents on the waves. In the evening, the sunset glow spreads across the shore, providing a spectacular coastal sunset, making it a worthy place to relax before a band performance.
