Peng Garden (Taiyang Hospital) Introduction
Peng Yuan is a Japanese-style building that originally served as the second club of the Taiyang Company during the Japanese colonial period. It is equipped with entertainment facilities such as a martial arts hall, billiards room, and table tennis room, and also served as a training center for the mine technicians of the Taiyang Company. After the end of World War II, it was converted into the Taiyang Company's Ruifang Gold Mine affiliated hospital. After the cessation of mining in Jiufen, it was transformed into Peng Surgical Hospital. After the death of Dr. Peng Qinghuo, it was renamed Peng Yuan in his memory. From Shuqixi Road, as you approach the car road, you can see a small square with a stone table and stone chairs on the left side. Behind the square stands a well-preserved two-story Japanese building, which is the well-known "Peng Yuan" in the area. Dr. Peng practiced medicine in Jiufen for his whole life, saving many lives. At that time, many miners contracted silicosis from inhaling excessive dust, and Dr. Peng specifically researched silicosis, saving countless affected miners. The interior is filled with related materials and historical photos of Dr. Peng. Currently, no appointments are accepted, but visitors can enjoy the view outside the building from the square in front of Peng Yuan.
