Peng Yuan (Tai Yang Company Affiliated Hospital) Introduction
Peng Garden is a Japanese-style building, originally the second club of Taya Company during the Japanese occupation, featuring entertainment facilities such as a martial arts hall, billiard room, and table tennis room. It also served as a training institution for Taya Company's mining technicians. After the war, it was repurposed as the affiliated hospital of Taya Company's Ruifang Gold Mine. Following the cessation of mining in Jiufen, it became Peng Surgical Hospital. After the death of Dr. Peng Qinghuo, it was renamed Peng Garden in his memory. Approaching the car road from Shuqixi Road, on the left, there is a small plaza with a stone table and chairs, and behind it stands a well-preserved two-story Japanese building, which is quite famous locally as "Peng Garden." Dr. Peng practiced medicine in Jiufen for a lifetime, saving many lives; many miners suffered from silicosis due to inhaling excessive dust, and Dr. Peng specifically researched silicosis, saving countless afflicted miners. The interior is adorned with relevant information about Dr. Peng and historical photographs. Currently, reservations are not accepted, but visitors can enjoy the outdoor scenery in front of Peng Garden's plaza.
