Huwei Cherry Blossom Avenue Introduction
Huwei Cherry Blossom Avenue is located on the North 4th Line highway in Tamsui. Huwei is the old name of Tamsui, and the planting of Yoshino cherries and mountain cherry blossoms was initiated by the Huwei Rotary Club and the Tamsui District Office to increase the density of cherry trees along the North 4th Line highway from Shulin Kou to Sankong Spring, forming a cherry blossom avenue. With the opening of the Tamsui Light Rail, visitors can disembark at the Dengkong Station and walk about 100 meters to find themselves in a 4-kilometer-long cherry blossom tunnel. The entire length of the cherry blossom avenue is approximately 4 kilometers, which is not only the only one in Tamsui but also the longest cherry blossom walkway in the world. It offers a distant view of Mount Datun and serves as a hiking route for nearby residents on regular days. During the spring festival when the cherry blossoms bloom, the road covered with flowers appears like a dreamy pink carpet. On this road, one can also see fragrant maple and old banyan trees displaying their vitality.
