Huwei Cherry Blossom Avenue Introduction
Huwei Cherry Blossom Avenue is located on the North No. 4 Highway in Tamsui. Huwei is the old name of Tamsui, and the planting of Yoshino cherries and mountain cherry blossoms was initiated by the Rotary Club of Huwei and the Tamsui District Office to increase the density of cherry trees along the North No. 4 Highway from Shulin Kou to San Kong Chuan, forming a cherry blossom avenue. With the opening of the Tamsui Light Rail, visitors can get off at Tanjin Deng Gong Station and walk about 100 meters to see the 4-kilometer-long cherry blossom tunnel. The entire length of Cherry Blossom Avenue is about 4 kilometers, making it not only the only one in Tamsui but also the longest cherry blossom walkway in the world. It offers a distant view of Datun Mountain and serves as a hiking route for local residents on regular days. During the Chinese New Year when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the road covered with flowers appears like a dreamy pink carpet. Along this road, one can also see sweet gums and old banyans showcasing their vibrant vitality.
