Dakeng No. 9 and No. 9-1 Trails Introduction
Dakeng Scenic Area - Hiking Trail Guide Dakeng Scenic Area is an important leisure spot for the citizens of Taichung, as well as a popular hiking and fitness destination for mountain climbers. It is one of the most sought-after tourist attractions in central Taiwan. On regular days or during holidays, you can see groups of people enjoying the scenery together, making it a communal backyard for the people of Taichung. Its most distinctive feature includes 14 hiking trails. The first to eighth trails were opened in the early 1980s and were constructed based on the natural terrain where Dakeng Mountain and streams intertwine, with the highest elevation being 859 meters at Touji Mountain. The ninth trail was opened in December 2005, the tenth trail was completed in March 2008, and the ninth sub-trail was completed in November 2013. The ninth trail is approximately 1.6 kilometers long, suitable for families to walk. The starting point is directly across from the Bu Ku parking lot at Jing Bu Road leading to Jiu Jiu Bridge. Features: This trail is surrounded by lush greenery, with a tranquil environment and expansive views, allowing you to overlook the urban scenery of the 11th phase redevelopment area. There are also remains from the Japanese occupation period, including an ammunition depot and the Dali River, with the entrance being the 921 Earthquake Memorial Park. The ninth sub-trail is about 0.6 kilometers long and is also family-friendly. The entrance is also across from the Bu Ku parking lot, leading straight past the Jiu Jiu Bridge. Features: Along the way to this trailhead, there is a farmer's market where hikers can purchase local agricultural products from the Dakeng area.
