Dakeng No. 9 and No. 9-1 Trails Introduction
Dakeng Scenic Area - Hiking Trail Guide Dakeng Scenic Area is an important leisure spot for Taichung citizens to find peace of mind, as well as a place for hikers to enjoy nature and fitness. It is also a popular tourist destination in central Taiwan. On regular days or holidays, one can often see groups of friends and families enjoying the area, making it a cherished backyard for the residents of Taichung. Its most notable features are the 14 hiking trails, with Trails 1 to 8 opened in the early 1980s, developed according to the natural terrain interwoven with Dakeng Mountain and streams, reaching an elevation of 859 meters at the summit of Toukan Mountain. Trail 9 was opened in December 2005, Trail 10 was completed in March 2008, and Trail 9-1 was completed in November 2013. Trail 9 has a length of approximately 1.6 kilometers, suitable for families to walk together. Trailhead: Cross from the Chingbu Parking Lot directly to Jiu Jiu Bridge along Chingbu Road. Features: This trail is filled with greenery, offering a tranquil environment and expansive views, allowing for a distant glance at the urban scenery of the No. 11 Redevelopment Zone. There are also remnants from the Japanese occupation period, such as an ammunition depot and Dali Creek, with the entrance near the 921 Earthquake Park. Trail 9-1 has a length of about 0.6 kilometers, also suitable for families to walk together. Trailhead: From the Chingbu Parking Lot, cross directly to Jiu Jiu Bridge and continue straight. Features: Along the way to the trail entrance, there is a farmer's market where hikers can purchase local agricultural products from the Dakeng area.
