Dakeng Scenic Area - Hiking Trail Guide The Dakeng Scenic Area is an important recreational place for the citizens of Taichung, serving as a spiritual retreat and a popular destination for hikers and fitness enthusiasts. It is a well-known tourist attraction in central Taiwan. On regular days and holidays, you can see many people enjoying the area together, making it a shared backyard for the people of Taichung. The area's most distinctive features are its 13 hiking trails. Trails No. 1 to No. 8 were opened in the early years of the 70th year of the Republic of China, built according to the natural topography formed by the intersection of Dakeng Mountain and the streams, with the highest elevation reaching 859 meters at Touqi Mountain. Trail No. 9 was opened in December 2005, Trail No. 10 was completed in March 2008, and Trail No. 9-1 was completed in November 2013. Trail No. 7 is approximately 1.3 kilometers long, suitable for all ages. Trailhead: To access Trail No. 7, turn left and go uphill about 20 meters from the parking lot of Trail No. 6; another path leads downhill and then back uphill to Guanyin Pavilion. The right turn at the fork leads to the parking lot of Trail No. 6. Due to the large number of visitors at Guanyin Pavilion on weekends, the industrial road only allows one-way traffic, and it is not recommended for vehicles to enter the parking lot and Guanyin Pavilion. Features: The endpoint of the trail leads to Wind-Swinging Stone Park, where various orchards, such as citrus, longan, and lychee, can be found along the way. The shaded trees make it a pleasant walk, with a gentle slope that is easy to navigate.
