Dongfeng Bicycle Greenway Introduction
Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor (0k~13.6k) has public liability insurance. The Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor, formerly known as Dongfeng Railway and also called Dongshi Branch Line, was built in 1958 and is one of the branch lines of Taiwan's Mountain Line railway, running through Fengyuan, Shigang, and Dongshi. At that time, the red cedar, cypress, and fir of the Dongshi area needed transportation, along with the materials for the construction of the Shigang Dam, and more than 100,000 tons of agricultural products and goods needed to be transported, which led to the establishment of Dongfeng Railway. For the residents along the railway, Dongfeng Railway is a memory of their past lives. Since its opening on November 15, 2000, the Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor has become a new recreational venue in the greater Taichung area, offering a rich itinerary for visitors, whether families, couples, or educational outdoor activities. The scenic spots along the route, such as Shigang Dam, Dongshi Hakka Cultural Park, natural ecology, and landscape architecture, allow visitors to ride bicycles and experience relaxation in close contact with nature.
