Dongfeng Bicycle Greenway Introduction
Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor (0k~13.6k) is insured against public liability. Formerly known as the Dongfeng Railway, also called the Dongshi Branch Line, it was built in 1958 and is one of the branch lines of Taiwan's mountain railway, traversing Fengyuan, Shigang, and Dongshi. At that time, red cypress, hinoki cypress, and cedar wood from the Dongshi area needed transportation, along with the materials for the construction of the Shigang Dam, and no less than a hundred thousand tons of agricultural products for freight. Therefore, the Dongfeng Railway was born, and for the residents along the railway, it is a memory of their past life. Since its opening on November 15, 2000, the Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor has become a new recreational spot for weekends in the Greater Taichung area. Attractions along the route include the Shigang Dam, Dongshi Hakka Cultural Park, natural ecology, and landscape architecture, providing visitors, whether families, couples, or outdoor teaching groups, with rich travel planning. Visitors can ride bicycles and experience a relaxing feeling close to nature.
