Dongfeng Bicycle Greenway Introduction
Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor (0k~13.6k) is insured under public liability insurance. Previously known as the Dongfeng Railway, also referred to as the Dongshi Line, it was built in 1958 and is one of the branches of Taiwan's Mountain Line railway, connecting Fengyuan, Shigang, and Dongshi. At that time, the Dongshi area needed to transport red cypress, Taiwan cedar, and fir timber, along with materials for the Shigang Dam project and more than 100,000 tons of agricultural products for transport. The Dongfeng Railway thus came into being, serving as a memory of the past for residents along the railway line. Since its opening on November 15, 2000, the Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor has become a new recreational spot for weekends in the Greater Taichung area. Attractions along the route include the Shigang Dam, Dongshi Hakka Cultural Park, natural ecology, and landscape architecture, providing visitors—whether families, couples, or educational groups—with rich travel planning options. Visitors can enjoy cycling while experiencing relaxation and closeness to nature.
