Shigang Old Street Introduction
Shigang Old Street, located in Shigang District, is situated on what is now Shigang Street, near Taiwan Route 3 and the Dongfeng Bicycle Path Green Corridor. The old site of Shigang Train Station is located on a bicycle path that has been transformed from the "Forest Railway." The prosperity of Shigang Old Street in the past was also due to this train station; however, with the decline of the Forest Railway and two significant earthquakes, the former glory is no longer present, and the area has been replaced by modern concrete buildings. Currently, apart from preserving the old granary, only a few structures on Shigang Street maintain the traditional Japanese wooden bungalows and Japanese-style black roofs. When visiting Shigang Old Street, locals also recommend the Shigang Lover's Bridge and the remains of Shigang Dam.
