Shigang Old Street, located in Shigang District, is situated on what is now Shigang Street, close to Taiwan Route 3 and the Dongfeng Bicycle Path green corridor. On top of the bike path, which was transformed from the "Lin Tie" railway, lies the old site of Shigang Railway Station. The prosperity of Shigang Old Street in the past rose due to this station, but with the decline of Lin Tie and after experiencing two major earthquakes, the once flourishing area has lost its former glory and has been replaced by modern concrete buildings. Today, aside from retaining an old granary, only a few buildings on Shigang Street remain, featuring traditional Japanese wooden-style houses and black-tiled roofs. When visiting Shigang Old Street, locals also recommend the Shigang Lover's Bridge and the ruins of Shigang Dam.

Shigang Old Street Introduction

Actually, when you come here, the old street scenery is almost unrecognizable. If you don't research in advance, it is difficult to find the location of the old street and the old buildings. In the itinerary, Shigang Old Street will not be the main focus; rather, it will revolve around the Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor. Recommended attractions include the Shigang Old Train Station, the 0 Egg Platform, the Shigang Lovers' Bridge, and the Shigang Dam. The Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor also represents the prosperous past of Shigang District, and the suddenly elevated terrain next to the station is due to the geological uplift caused by the 921 earthquake.
