Shigang Old Street, located in Shigang District, is now situated along Shigang Street, close to Taiwan Route 3 and the Dongfeng Bike Path green corridor. On the bike path transformed from the "Lin Railroad," there is also the site of the old Shigang Railway Station. The prosperity of Shigang Old Street in the past was driven by this station, but as the Lin Railroad declined, Shigang Old Street went through two major earthquakes, and its former glory is no longer present, having been replaced by modern reinforced concrete buildings. Today, apart from the preserved old granaries, there are only a few buildings remaining along Shigang Street that showcase traditional Japanese wooden bungalows and Japanese-style black rooftops. When visiting Shigang Old Street, locals also recommend the Shigang Lover's Bridge and the Shigang Dam Ruins.

Shigang Old Street Introduction

Actually, when you come here, the old street scene is almost unrecognizable. Without prior research, it is difficult to find the location of the old street and the old buildings. On the itinerary, Shigang Old Street will not be the main focus; instead, the emphasis will be on the Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor. Recommended attractions include the Shigang Old Railway Station, the zero egg platform, the Shigang Lover's Bridge, and the Shigang Dam. The Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor also represents the former prosperity of the Shigang District, and the suddenly raised terrain next to the station is a result of the uplift caused by the 921 earthquake.
