Shihgang Old Street, located in Shihgang District, was originally situated on the current Shihgang Street, near Taiwan Route 3 and the Dongfeng Bicycle Path Green Corridor. The old site of Shihgang Train Station is located on the bicycle path that was rebuilt from the "Lin Tie" railway. The prosperity of Shihgang Old Street in the past was due to this station, but with the decline of the Lin Tie railway and two major earthquakes, its former glory has faded, replaced by modern concrete buildings. Currently, besides preserving the old granary, only a few structures on Shihgang Street retain the traditional Japanese wooden bungalows and the Japanese-style black roofs. When visiting Shihgang Old Street, locals also recommend the Shihgang Lover's Wood Bridge and the ruins of the Shihgang Dam.

Shihgang Old Street Introduction

Actually, when you come here, you can hardly see the old street scenery. If you don't research the information in advance, it will be difficult to find the location of the old street and the old buildings. In the itinerary, Shigang Old Street will not be the main attraction; the focus will be on the Dongfeng Bike Path Green Corridor. Recommended attractions include Shigang Old Train Station, 0 Egg Platform, Shigang Lover's Bridge, and Shigang Dam, while the Dongfeng Bike Path Green Corridor also represents the former prosperity and glory of the Shigang District. The suddenly elevated terrain next to the station was caused by the uplift from the 921 earthquake.
