Shigang Old Street, located in Shigang District, is situated on what is now Shigang Street, near National Highway 3 and the Dongfeng Bicycle Path green corridor. The old site of Shigang Railway Station is also found on the bicycle path that was converted from the old Lin Railway. The prosperity of Shigang Old Street in the past arose due to this train station. However, with the decline of the Lin Railway and after experiencing two major earthquakes, the former glory is no longer, and it has been replaced by modern concrete buildings. Currently, aside from retaining the old granary, only a few buildings on Shigang Street preserve Japanese-style wooden bungalows and traditional Japanese black rooftops. When visiting Shigang Old Street, locals also recommend the Shigang Lovers' Bridge and the ruins of Shigang Dam.

Shigang Old Street Introduction

Actually, when you come here, you can hardly see the old street scenery. If you don't check the information in advance, it’s difficult to find the location of the old street and the historic buildings. In the itinerary, Shigang Old Street will not be the main focus; the primary emphasis will be on the Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor. Recommended attractions include Shigang Old Railway Station, Zero Egg Platform, Shigang Lover’s Bridge, and Shigang Dam. The Dongfeng Bicycle Green Corridor also represents the former prosperous scene of the Shigang District, and the suddenly rising terrain next to the station is due to the uplift caused by the 921 Earthquake.
