Taichung City Library Shigang Branch Introduction
The Shigang Branch Library, completed in 1993, stands four stories tall and covers an area of over 1,671 square meters. The outdoor reading garden offers beautiful scenery and has long become a well-known attraction in the Shigang District. Aiming to promote a culture of leisure, the library emphasizes both reading and entertainment, and has now evolved into a local cultural center featuring characteristics of social education, art, folklore, and leisure. The library’s management philosophy has always prioritized the needs of the public, continuously seeking innovation and change to gain participation and recognition from the community and local residents. Through community-building initiatives, it aims to achieve sustainable development goals. Currently, the library and its surrounding outdoor spaces provide a total of 232 reading seats. In addition, the library houses a Hakka Cultural Museum and specialized book collections that preserve valuable local historical materials and Hakka literature.
