Yuanman Outdoor Theater Introduction
The Fulfillment Amphitheatre is located next to the Wenxin Forest Park. Established in 2001, it was part of an innovative construction plan proposed by the city government to enhance cultural infrastructure and create a distinctive urban character by combining park green spaces with a large outdoor theater. With extensive coordination and promotion, the amphitheater was completed in 2006, and a stage canopy was built in 2008, managed by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government. The performance space features an outdoor open stage, with a maximum width of 51 meters and a minimum of 40 meters; a depth of 18 meters; and a height ranging from 9.5 meters to 11.5 meters at the highest point. The backstage consists of a two-story and one mezzanine reinforced concrete building, covering an area of 110 ping (approximately 364 square meters) and a total floor area of 247 ping (approximately 816 square meters). The audience seating is divided into three levels, with a total of 6,009 regular seats and 20 accessible seats, making a total of 6,029 seats. When the park’s sloped grassy area is opened for viewing, it can accommodate up to 15,000 spectators. Since its inauguration on August 5, 2006, the Fulfillment Amphitheatre has hosted a variety of artistic and cultural events, except for one year when the canopy was under construction. It has become Taichung City’s premier cultural and recreational public space, encouraging public participation in cultural activities and driving the development of the cultural and creative industries based on the concept of a "cultural economy," transforming Taichung into the “Eastern Vienna.”
