Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taichung Introduction
Bulao Dream No. 125, completed in 1929 (Showa 4), is the former villa of the Miyahara family, built by ophthalmologist Dr. Takekuma Miyahara as his residence. In 1945, after the Japanese were repatriated, the Taichung City Government took over the property for use as the mayor's official residence. In 2016, the Hong Dao Elderly Welfare Foundation, in response to Taichung City's elderly care policy and to revitalize historical buildings, transformed the space into "Bulao Dream No. 125" with the planning concept of "Silver Creativity Participation" aimed at the elderly and cultural creativity. Through various dreams, elder "living books," and a blend of old wisdom and new creative dining, it conveys the three "non-aging" spirits: mind, dream, and action. The "Bulao Dream Exhibition" poses the question, "When you are eighty years old, how much courage do you have to dream?" In fact, dreaming is a posture unrelated to age! The first floor of the exhibition hall features a "Permanent Exhibition of Bulao Dreams" and a "Living Book Room," showcasing real stories that reveal the extraordinary dreams and undying dream-fulfilling abilities of grandparents. Meeting an elder is like opening a world or reading a book, broadening new perspectives. Visitors are also encouraged to borrow "Bulao Living Books"! The second floor's "Dream Special Zone" hosts various special exhibitions and activities at irregular intervals. ♥ Groups are welcome to schedule visits, with free exhibitions, regular guided tours on weekends, and venue rentals. The "Dream Garden" boasts a spacious courtyard at Bulao Dream No. 125, where various activities and charity markets are held irregularly. The flowerbed transforms into an edible landscape, allowing elders to plant and harvest different plants each season, connecting with the younger generation to create a green living urban farming corner in Taichung's old city area. ♥ Groups are welcome to rent the venue and participate in the 125 Dream Market activities. "Bulao Dietary Workshop X Bulao Cooks/Service Staff" – Senior interns not only appear in movies; the Bulao Dietary Workshop creates job opportunities for the elderly, hiring them as Bulao cooks and service staff, some of whom are even "grandparent-level" in age! They eagerly share traditional flavors and are keen to learn new skills, like ordering with an iPad. You are welcome to experience their enthusiasm and see the vital energy of elderly employment. ♥ Reservations for date meals, afternoon tea, reservations, group bookings, and private menus for more than 10 people are welcome. "Slow Food Leisure - Xianjiao Broadway Set Menu" – Old memories, new tastes. With a perfect blend of fat and lean, the fragrant braised pork is paired with freshly ground rice milk, infused with pumpkin, spinach, red yeast rice, or purple sweet potatoes, transformed into bowls that resemble rice pudding or macarons using handmade bamboo steamers. The fresh seasonal vegetables harvested from the garden combine to create the fashionable Bulao salad set menu with braised pork rice. "125°C Care Corner" – Funded by Taichung City Government's Health Bureau under the "107 Annual Community Comprehensive Care System A-Level Unit Project," the "125°C Care Corner" provides long-term care service consultations, ensuring that long-term care services are accessible, visible, and usable, along with comprehensive companionship care services. It combines to form a diverse aesthetic leisure space regularly hosting care community activities, lectures, and gatherings tailored to different service targets. It serves as a resource connection and exchange platform for professional care service providers in the region.
