National Cheng Kung University Banyan Garden Introduction
The banyan tree at National Cheng Kung University has always been one of the iconic representations of Tainan. According to legend, it was personally planted by Prince Hirohito of Japan (later known as Emperor Showa) during his inspection tour of Taiwan in 1923. To this day, the banyan tree stands watch over the NCKU campus like a benevolent old alumnus, welcoming new students from all over and bidding farewell to many graduates who complete their studies. During graduation season, numerous students take photos here to commemorate their bittersweet moments.
