National Cheng Kung University Li-Hsien Hall (Former Imperial Japanese Army 2nd Infantry Regiment Headquarters) Introduction
Li-Hsien Building was constructed in 1911 and currently serves as the residence of the Graduate Institute of Art History at National Cheng Kung University. Originally, it was the headquarters of the Second Infantry Regiment of the Japanese Army in Taiwan. After renovations in 1968, bathroom facilities were installed to accommodate returning scholars or visiting professors, and it was renamed Li-Hsien Building. The exterior of the building has not undergone significant changes since its original construction and is well-preserved. The most beautiful feature of the building is the classical Roman-style porch at the main entrance, and the entire structure is richly decorated, making it a splendid example of historical architecture on the NCKU campus, alongside the Dacheng Hall and the History Department Building from the same era.
